Well I have been trying to tell you all that this is about to happen and now it starts in my hometown. Kinsley is voting tonight on a proposal to drop wrestling because of the state money crunch. This is the domino you don't want to have fall. When it starts it will pick up steam and other schools will do the same thing. Kinsley is one of the legacy programs in the state, it was one of the original programs from the very first year. If any of you see your way to drop them a note you can email MATHES@midway.net and he will get any letters to them. Please write them and ask them not to set this presidence.

What was the result of the vote? Do you have a number of Yeah vs. Nay?

I don't know as of yet how it came out. I hope they don't do it. Kinsley was once a very proud program and up until the mid-80's was very strong. The town is dying now and it breaks my heart as well as all the other former wrestlers from there that this is happening now. I suppose it is a sign of the times but I think the last thing to close down when the town dies is that program. I will post it when I know more about it.

An update on the situation at Kinsley:
They had a town meeting last night to discuss the avenues the community can do to save the Wrestling and Cross Country programs. There was a lot of good ideas thrown out last night but it basically comes down to convincing the Board of Education to look at the possibility of "restructuring" the wrestling program as well as all of the sports programs. The Board allowed to table the decision of dropping the program until the next board meeting which is Monday the 13th, so the community could have time to come up with a plan to raise money to keep the Wrestling and Cross Country.
They are going to have a cookout next Thursday at 6:00pm in the park for any interested people to raise money.
They are talking of establishing an Alumni fund. (Contact Diana Habiger or Mark Frame)
There is talk of many things in the future to help raise money: Summer wrestling camps, selling Booster type items, etc.
The board meeting is next Monday and the fate of the program will probably be decided at that time.

I will call out there and find out what the deal is that is the one my father gave me and although he is very adept at many things, email addresses are really not any of them. I will find out and post tonight around eleven or so when I get home from the Royals. God do I have some lost causes or what.
