The Kansas Wizzers, a team representing the best in Kansas Wrestling will be attending Brute Nationals. We are currently seeking top notch, quality wrestlers to represent Kansas at the Nationals. I will be working primarily as the team leader for this event and we will be working with others around the state at putting our best team out there at this national event that features Freshman against Freshman, Sophomore against Sophomore, Junior against Junior, and Senior against Senior. The head coach for the Kansas Team will be one of Kansas all time great wrestlers, Eric Akin. It is time to start putting the team together now. If wanting to participate with the Wizzers and Team Kansas please notify me as soon as possible so we can start making arrangements for accommodations, transportation and so forth. Coaches, please inform your wrestlers of this opportunity. The tournament is in Omaha Nebraska at Sapp Fieldhouse at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Contact me at 316-841-5814, 316-945-8485, via snail mail at 2404 Crawford Wichita KS, or email at mike@furches.org . Team singlets will be available for purchase for those participating, this is not required. The links for information about the tournament are following. http://www.totallywrestling.com/tw/ http://www.brute.com/bruteadidasnationals/ I will be glad to make a flyer available for coaches to give their team as soon as one is available. There is still a lot of work to be done on this and will keep information coming as it is finalized.

I know that this opportunity doesn't happen often. It is also encouraged if someone is going up and they have room for an additional body please contact Mike and let him know you have room. If someone from an area needs transportation I think a carpool might save everyone in the end.

With Singlet, Accommodations, entry fee (4 to a room, entry fee - $200 (possible to change) + Food and meals. (We are working on snacks, possible scholarships, and possibly a meal for the team) We are also looking at a possible training session in the Kansas City area with Erik Akin and other coaches prior to the trip up. If enough interest and funds either provided by participants, and or via scholarship, we may look at the possibility of vans or a bus for the team. If there are those that want to go but don’t have the money, let me know. I will keep information private and we will try to provide some scholarships and assistance. Can’t promise anything, but will promise that we will do what we can.
Without the singlet approximately $140 per person. There may be some singlets available for rental but not sure. It is a great looking singlet and I would encourage wrestlers to consider it.

For those not in the KC area, I am looking for a school to "host" a training session or two near the Salina/Manhattan area. Any "District 3" team that wants to host something please contact Mike or myself as well.

If there's enough interest in the Wichita area, I can try to get something going for practices.

So far so good. I'll try to talk with some folks IF I go to the Chapman-Abilene dual about more people going.

Keep me posted on your needs. I'd like to do what I can. REAL SCRAPPERS should always get a chance to compete.

Check the links on the original post. Should answer most of the questions. The deadline for sign up is also listed there. It is also okay to have more than one wrestler in an individual weight and class, it is a tournament format and not much could be better than having two Kansas wrestlers going at it for the championship matches.

Here is an update for what we have going on in Leavenworth County for the post-HS season.
The Slammer Wrestling Club will hold its first HS age practice on 22 Feb following HS Regionals. Any wrestlers released from their high school programs are welcome. Following the HS State Tournament, we should fill up the wrestling room with about 20 wrestlers.
Practice Times and Locations are:
Mondays - Fort Leavenworth Harney Gym - 5:30 to 7:00 (combined practice with the Fort Leavenworth Warriors) Weds - Lansing High School - 6:00 to 7:45 Thurs - Lansing High School - 7:30 to 8:45
While the 16U group will be focusing on USAW Kansas State Tournament Series, there will be several junior/seniors in the room training for events like the Metro-Classic, Brute-Adidas, etc.
Club Flyers and registration have been sent out to Lansing, Leavenworth, Mill Valley, Pleasant Ridge, and Basehor High Schools. Need wrestlers to register with the club by 16 Feb in order to order USA Wrestling cards in time for the USAW State Tournament Series.
Slammer Wrestling is open to all. We just ask for two things:
You purchase or have a USA Wrestling Card. You work hard in the practice room.
(Make it three - you change your clothes between practices)
The Slammers will transition to freestyle / Greco on 4 April following Brute-Adidas. Practice times will change and we will go from three training groups 10U, 14U, and HS to one consolidated group.
Need help coaching freestyle. If you are interested please email me.
For Brute, we sent 6 kids last year, and I imagine we might have a little more this year.
Mike Furches I will keep you updated on the kids that commit.
Questions on Slammer Wrestling please email Mike Flynn: pflynn38@aol.com
