How close was the Ryan - Coles matchup?
Very proud of Chapman. Espeseth and Poland needed some wins to add on to confidence. Great job Irish.

125lbs 1. Bechtel: Eureka 2. Kasting: Lyons 3. Olson: Trego 4. Coles: Chapman
Levy Ryan, My little brother, lost by fall to Joe Olson in the 2nd period in the consolation semi-finals.
Mom4, isn't Jess JV behind someone? Not too bad for a JV kid making the finals and then pushing a varsity kid to JV says alot about him. Was this a pretty deep weight?
Also the Malay you have at 130/135 should be Maley I believe, Heath is his first name I know that for sure.
Alex
Thanks for providing the results as I wasn't there this year to do it myself. Thanks again.

It wasn't close at all. Ryan pretty much dominated Coles from the first whistle. I think there was some shock on Coles part. He wasn't expecting it. Someone was saying that Provance was sick today. He didn't look like himself but I am not completely sure. I was very impressed with Michael. For only weighing 90lbs, he sure did a great job. I was also impressed with Richardson and Shorter. Both of them had some very tough guys in their bracket. In fact, I was glad to see Shorter win but it was too bad it had to be Eaton who lost. Eaton is a great kid who ended up actually pinning himself trying to do a move on Jordan.

Jess is the starter at that weight Alex.
Levy Ryan didn't make the cons-finals according to his brother mom4.
Great day for the Shorter family. Lil brother one an extremely tough middle school league weight today.

Jess is actually a Freshman varsity wrestler at 135lbs. He just took over for Arveson (140lbs) at the Clay Center/Junction City Dual's earlier this year. The freshman varsity wrestlers are Poland (mighty mite), Todd, Lemon and Richardson.
I'm sorry but I have to contest the 135lb match. Funk was a defensive wrestler. He should have been called for stalling several times in the match. Even the Osborne coaches who were sitting next to us agree. In the second OT, Jess was on the bottom and had gotten control with just one second left. One ref gave him the point but the other head ref gave Funk the win. I would like a rematch. But oh well, what's done is done and now we just have to move on to the next weekend tournament in Ellsworth. Should be good.

Is Freeman no longer wrestling for the Irish or has he just been sick. I know he took 5th at Mission Valley but would have loved to seen a body at 189.

Freeman is actually weighing 160. He was there but didn't wrestle. I asked his mom to please feed him some Big Mac's so he can get bigger.

I kinda hope that Lund can make it to 215 for Chapman if anything for a body there. Even if he's not good, you never know if he'll be able to save a team point here or there, or better yet get a forfeit win.

He is kind of a defensive wrestler. That is just wrestling, anyone can win depending on the day. That's one of the draw backs to having 2 officials, to opinions when it comes down to a close call, sometimes it's good others it's bad. Tell Jess congratulations on a 2nd place finish in a varsity tournament as a freshman. Alex
