How does Carroll win 211 to 181 with south having 1 more champ and placer. As well as kmc having the same number of placers as carroll. I know pins have something to do with it but i believe that if you have one school with more placers and champs they should win outright.
I will not go into detail on advancement points or bonus points but will provide the following:

Bishop Carroll had 13 medalists
First - 3 - Worth 14 points each - 42 pts.
Second - 5 - Worth 10 points each - 50 pts.
Third - 5 - Worth 7 points each - 35 pts.
Total Placement Points - 127

Wichita South had 11 medalists
First - 4 - Worth 14 points each - 56 pts.
Second - 3 - Worth 10 points each - 30 pts.
Third - 0
Fourth - 4 - Worth 4 points each - 16
Total Placement Points - 102

Kapaun Mt. Carmel had 10 medalists
First - 3 - Worth 14 points each - 42 pts.
Second - 1 - Worth 10 points - 10 pts.
Third - 6 - Worth 7 points each - 42 pts.
Total Placement Points - 94

Coach Church:

I have the tournament results and team scores after each round and if you would like me to provide a hardcopy I will be happy to oblige.

I scored the tournament in two methods, the first which was agreed upon in the coaches meeting and the other including the first round advancement points.

After the first round:
1. Wichita South - 35.00 pts.
2. Bishop Carroll - 33.50 pts.
3. Kapaun Mt. Carmel - 32.00
4. Wichita Northwest - 20.00 pts.

After Championship Semi-finals and 2nd Round Consolations:
1. Bishop Carroll - 145.50 pts.
2. Wichita South - 136.00 pts.
3. Kapaun Mt. Carmel - 89.00 pts.
4. Wichita Northwest - 80.00 pts.

After Completion of Consolation Semi-finals:
1. Bishop Carroll - 180.50
2. Wichita South - 161.50
3. Kapaun Mt. Carmel - 128.50
4. Wichita Northwest - 101.00

Final Results:
1. Bishop Carroll - 211.50 pts.
2. Wichita South - 180.50
3. Kapaun Mt. Carmel - 166.00 pts.
4. Wichita Northwest - 114.00 pts.

Final Results with First Round Advancement Points:
1. Bishop Carroll - 215.50 pts.
2. Wichita South - 182.50 pts.
3. Kapaun Mt. Carmel - 168.00
4. Wichita Northwest - 116.00

I would like a hard copy... however, I really don't care. Carroll was the best team in the GWAL this year. They beat us in every tournament but one and beat us in two duals. I can tap out on that one no big deal. Congrats to them and Coach Fink for being named the best coach in the GWAL!

My focused changed at about 8:30 Saturday night when we walked out of Heights and the next time we step on the mat seasons and careers are on the line! Good luck to all the state and may the best wrestlers come out on top! I want to especially wish Coach Shelton and his V.C. Hornets good luck in 5A!

Are you saying that the GWAL tourney is scored differently than what's in the NFHS rule book?

If so, then the GWAL ADs/Coaches/Schools only have themselves to blame!!

If not, then why not keep a running score throughout the tournament and protest during the allotted time following the last match of the tourney? Why wait and come on a forum to raise questions about who won and such??

Maybe I'm just confused, but if you're looking to dethrown the sitting champion, you'd be watching with a closer eye and know where the points are coming from for your team and the one you're looking to knock off!!!

The tournament team scores were updated after each round and after the conclusion of each weight classification in the Championship Round.

When the first round points were posted on the tote board, the young lady assisting with the tournament erroneously posted a digit for Carroll - 53.5 instead of 33.5. It was the first round and the tote board would be corrected after completion of the next round so I did not ask the young lady to climb back up the ladder to correct the team scores.

Shane I think your right in your asumption that you yourself are the one confused. Noone is protesting anything and Carroll has been crowned the outright winner and deservingly so. Most knew that there was a mistake on the board and Richard did a good job letting others know. So I was told anyhow. We appreciate the hard work of the people running the tourney. It was nice to be out by 8:30.

Shane, don't get on here and question me and my ability to keep track of my team and team scores. You wont win that one!

Secondly, I never protested or thought that we were the outright winners. Bishop Carroll did their job, I just thought we were closer than that. We were not and I understand that!

Not one time did I raise questions on who won. They placed 13 we placed 11. I know how they won! If you want to say something like that to me, go ahead and send me an email or something. Better yet, I am easy to find at tournaments etc. Talk to me face to face as I am easy to get along with also. Don't get on here for thousands to see and bash my coaching abilities.

Thank goodness this controversial and overzealous referee was not assigned to the tournament!

Let me remind the overzealous one of Rule 3-1-1 (pg. 13):

"The referee's uniform consists of a short-sleeved knit shirt, with alternating black and white 1-inch stripes or an event provided shirt common to all officials at the event, full-length black trousers, black belt (if worn), black socks and black wrestling/gym shoes without colored highlights." (emphasis added)

If you do not choose to follow the rules why would you expect the coaches, athletes, or spectators to follow the rules?
