Thats a bold statement. It's one thing to say someone is going to win, but to say pin his way to a title is a little to much. I think there will be a few in the bracket that would beg to differ. My prodiction - Caldwell will not be State Champ this year.

6A rankings from Feb 17th, 2006 1-Caldwell 2-Ankeman 3-Kozlowski 4-Creekmore 5-Maple 6-Stephens 1 & 2 Same region (Goddard) 3,4,5,6 Same region (Derby) I guess 112 at those other regions should be smiling real big! Can't wait to seed this mess! I think they have all beaten each other in one aspect or another!

I've seen Caldwell wrestle and I have to disagree, he has taken it to the best and I've seen him pin 2 very good, no, great wrestlers in Joey Stephens and PAULIE HANSON. Caldwell=State Champ. PERIOD!

I think Maple is going to do better then 4th place. But Caldwell is a very good wrestler but I wouldn't state that he is going to pin his way through state. That is a strong satement, but good luck to kids in 6A.

Caldwell has it won already. If you do show up, you better be ready to start counting the lights in the ceiling. The way I look at it, Caldwell is one step closer to making my prediction come true.

I don't think I've ever questions that Caldwell is a good wrestler. State is a big stage. Being an underclassman in that arena can be overwhelming. All it takes is just 1 mistake with the field that is loaded with talent and older classmen that have seen & experienced state. You tell me that a senior wrestling his last matches of his career isn’t going to come at him with everything he’s got. What a way to go out. Win a huge match against him and place at state. Sounds like great motivation to me to beat him or at least keep him from getting pinned. He may be the next up & coming 4X’er, but maybe not. He will have his day I’m sure. Good luck to all the wrestlers. They all have worked hard to get to the big stage.

not saying he will get beat, but if you have ever been around state more than a couple of years, you can agree with me that kids have come in with records like that of caldwell and been beaten. two that come to mind recently are ely last year: everyone thought he was a lock and he was rolling until he got just destroyed by altman in the semis. another was stew bogart i believe his freshmen year. he had beat james ball from BVNW 4 or 5 times that year and ball whopped him in the state finals. ANYTHING can happen. that's why it's the best sport in the world!!!

Oldtimeplayer and Vikes,
Caldwell will make ANYONE who even thinks thay have a chance look very very Foolish. I have just seen it happen too many times!! The tougher the kid the worse his chances to not get embarrassed. Another Goddard Kid (Beard 152) virtually has the same MO!

JayHawkster,
You are one of those that can't see the whole picture because of your blindness of Goddard pride. I have no problem in believing in a wrestler. If he does run the table, then great job. But please back off. The know one has a chance mode, will ya. Now you’re telling me you have another 4x stud. I can tell you exactly a match you’re Mr. Beard (I have respect for this kid) should have lost, but to a very questionable call, he won. Maybe you need to talk to the Goddard Coach on this statement you’ve made. He even agrees it was a questionable call and Mr. Beard should have lost that match. (I’ve got video to back up my claims on the call). I don’t wish either boy bad luck. If it’s meant to be it will happen. I just get tired of the one side conversations on Caldwell. He better leave to go to state on Wednesday. He will have a long climb down of the pedestal you all have put him on.

jayhawker-
i'm sure caldwell doesn't need someone to do his talking for him. i know that he is a very good wrestler, and never said he would lose. obviously you are young and excited about the chances goddard has of winning a state championship, but you need to calm down and worry about yourself.

Oldtimeplayer and Vikes,
I appreciate ya alls comments. I did sound kinda young and cocky. Actually I'm not that young and I hate cocky attitudes. Caldwell could use a good humbleing and someday he'll get it. I'm telling you though the tougher the kid the harder and faster they have fallen against Him!!!
