It is unbelievable that scheideman lost in the consolation semis and isnt even going to state. 140# at Chapman was tough. Im gonna say that all 4 of the regional placers at chapman are going to place at state.

Heck I'd say if you wildcarded and let 2 or 3 more into state from that group they'd sweep the medals!

The prohibitive favorite for the championship would have to be Cole Garcia of Colby, however anything can happen and sometimes does. There are also some very tough wrestlers out there that cannot be discounted. It does not happen very often that all 4 placers from a regional will place at state. What happened to Chris was very unfortunate. It is very difficult to beat a good wrestler 3 times in a row and Jovonnie is explosive and powerful - he wrestled a great match. Chris was very deserving of his #3 ranking this year and I'm sure we'll hear from him again.

Oh my bad...forgot about Cole accidentally. Know him and his dad and didn't want to leave him out. But depth wise, I don't think you could grab the guys that finished 5th or 6th at Russell's regional and expect the same success..at least at that weight.

It was a really tough loss for Chris. He did not wrestle his best this weekend I don't think, but I don't want to take anything away from any of those other wrestlers either. They stepped up and got it done. Congratulations to all of the state qualifiers at each weight. The Chapman regional was very exciting at every weight and it showed in the team scores and in the outcomes.
I'm sure Chris can use this as motivation and come back even stronger for his senior year. Good luck to all at state.

I have said for a long time that if you are in the same regional as Clay Center, Abilene, Wamego, & Concordia, you are going to have a very tough time. And to think, all of those teams are in the same conference. It just amazes me that year in and year out those teams continually reload and produce some amazing wrestlers. Should be fun to watch.

What is clay center, abilene, and concordia secret? Do u guys put something in the water or just have a cloning machine? Its great to see schools who can have a great team year in and year out.

It's tradition...as one team gets good other teams in the league start trying to match them and do just as well. Concordia, Abilene and Clay have all won state titles at least 1 time from 1995-2005 to boot.

Clay Center also has an outstanding kids program. Last year, they had close to 100 kids compete in their program.
