Great run KMC. I dont think anyone thought that you would be right in the hunt for a state championship. Bishop hate to say it but well done. Closet match i have seen in a long time. After seeing jonas win his 3rd state championship i got to wondering. What school in the state holds the record for most multiple state champions?

I would guess Ark City, but I am not going to take the time to research this.

I think the biggest turn around for a team would have to go to Rose Hill. I haven't done the research, but it might have to be the biggest in history. They took 33rd place last year, and took 3rd this year. Quite amazing if you ask me. Congrats to all my Rose Hill buddies that really stepped it up. A huge congratulations to coach Darian Eshelman!!! He really turned that program around, and with out a doubt, we all know he is Kansas's coach of the year!

I think Lawrence High placing sixth as a team was quite a Cinderella story in it's own right. The highest finish in recent memory. Kellerman going undefeated 2 years in a row. Halpin just started wrestling about a month ago and finishing as a state runner-up. Cj Williams even placing at 215 was an unexpected suprise to say the least. I know that it's probably no big deal to the Goddards and the Derby's in the state, but it was a big deal to us up here.

congratulations to Wichita South, Coach Mike Church, and Coach David Nigg.
I was extremely surprised to see the bigger guys come through the back door and earn all those medals. Traditionally it has always been South's lower weight classes carrying the team; however, this year, the tide turned. Good job and, once again, congratulations on a terrific season.
The city league represented at State over the weekend: Carrol 5A champs, Kapaun 5A runner-ups, and South 6A runner-ups. Congrats to all coaches and teams.
