I just wanted to congratulate Clay Madden on winning his 4th state title this weekend. Not much was said about it at the tourn. when he got his medal. Congrats on joining a very elite group of great wrestlers. Clay is only the 3rd from the 3-2-1A ranks. Billy Gabel-St. Francis Matt Gilliland-Hoxie Clay Madden-Norton

congrats to clay on his accomplishment. I thought it was dissrespectful that they couldn't even recongize what he did. When Gabel and Gilliand did it they where commended on it and recieved standing ovations. I feel bad for clay on this and something should have been done. Because 4X state champs don't come every year and the next won't be for at least 4 years in 321a

I wanted to say Congrats to Clay, Coach Johnson, and the entire NCHS wrestling team! Clay is a class act and deserves every bit of the success he has earned. Biggdaddy, don't feel too bad for Clay, I know he doesn't want/need alot of attention, I am sure just winning it was more than enough for him!
Coach Johnson just keeps on developing great wrestlers. It will be exciting to see what happens next year.

Congratulations Clay!! Four state championships and three team championships is a huge accomplishment. Also, congrats to your parents, coaches and fans for helping mold you into an outstanding young man. From all the former NCHS wrestlers, "we are proud of you"!!!!

Congrats Clay! If anyone deserved this it was you...I just think it is ridiculous how no one on here can congratulate you on winning four, yet 10 others can congratulate someone on winning there first..just goes to show theres a little hostility at Norton for whooping up on everyone haha

No hostility from me for Norton or Clay. I happen to know another state champ personaly so I posted" a way to go". Norton and the Maddens should be very proud of what they have done. I am sure Clay is not siting around thinking no one loves me because another wrestler is getting congrats from the people who know him.
I know when we won our three in a row 78-79-80 the last thing we cared about was if anyone liked us.

I'll agree with you. Clay is a very humble person and wouldnt lose any sleep over people not telling him good job..I was just saying it's a little odd that so many more people are getting more recognition

I have to agree on both counts. Yes i think it is kind of interesting that when a hoxie wreslter and a sait francis wrestler win 4 strait titles the get so mcuh recognition and when it happens to a norton wreslter all he get is the sound of his own crowd. But on the other hand there is nothing best then the sound of your own crowd.
So all I have to say is congrats clay and everyone is proud of you.

Please do not compare and contrast how 4 x state champs are honored. I think that I can say without a doubt that Clay Madden is a 4 x State Champion and no one will ever take it away from him. And also he could care less about how much attention he gets. Clay and the Coaching staff have tried our best to down-play his run for his 4th state title. And it must have worked.

I noticed A LOT of people on their feet, including me, when Clay got his medal and his 4th state championship. Many people knew, even without the public announcement, what had happened as Hays has great and knowledgeable fans.
To Clay and all his coaches, congratulations!!!

So all I have to say is congrats clay and everyone is proud of you. If other people didn't stand and at least give applause for a difficult thing to do in wrestling, then in my opinion they don't appreciate talent. Even rivalries should see through to greatness. We always stood and applauded for wrestlers that earned 4 titles.

As a "true" wrestling fan I stood and applauded Clay as that is an accomplishment that I do not anticipate seeing for quite few years to come in 321a but you never know. I actually attended the 4a state on Friday but wanted to be in Hays to witness this rare feat. I was however extremely disappointed in the public address announcers lack of announcing that this was a four time state champ taking the top of the medal stand. I want to congratulate Clay, his family, his coaches, his teammates, and yes, even those crazy Norton fans. Wow you folks can make some noise up there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With the successful history of Norton wrestling I thought this was rather fitting. Again, I congratulate you Clay and wish you the best in the future.

I would also like to offer my congrats to Clay from another "Old Bluejay". What you accomplished is beyond outstanding. I think I can speak for a lot of alumni when I say you were wrestling for all of us. I know this because there was a swelling of pride for our hometown when you won that 4th title.
And to Coach Johnson and the rest of the Blue Jays, thank you for your efforts and resulting accomplishments as well. Your team is seen as a gold standard throughtout the state. Norton is known in every corner in Kansas where wrestling is watched, listened too, or discussed. You ALL should be proud of what you done.
Congrats!

Quit whinning about how everyone hates Norton. Im so sick of seeing it on here. Every post that someone comes up with something about Norton being treated unfair either by fans or other wrestlers has to come up. Just forget about it and let people act how they are going to act. When you have success people are always going to be talking you down and trying to figure out a way to get up to your level. Just let them be an go on about your business
