As fast a Texas wrestling is growing I see them becoming a possible player (5 to 10 years out) in college wrestling as well as at the high school national duals & fargo.

That would be my thought too about Newman or FHSU going up to D-1. I would question whether in the long run that they could have the type of budget to be competitive in that division. It might be better for them to rise to the top in D-II against schools with comparable budgets.

The other thing is that we ideally want programs added at WSU, KSU and KU because it creates more opportunities for our wrestlers. We just need more teams period in Kansas and other states. Smokey is right that Texas should be adding a team. Texas needs to follow Ohio State's lead in the amount of athletic programs that it offers. If any school in the Big 12 has the money to add a team, it is Texas. Another Big 12 neighboring state school that needs to add a wrestling team is Colorado. I hope the NCAA someday makes it a mandatory Division I requirement to field a wrestling team. They have a mandatory minimum number of teams requirement for Division I. I think they could also make having a wrestling team a Division I requirement.
