First off tiger Fisher was toeing the line with his hand outstreched to shake. He was obviously saying something but it could not be heard because of the reaction in the stands and around the mat for the kick he recieved. The ref turned towards Fisher and said something to him then called him for an UC penalty. The ref then said it was his seconf UC so he was out of the tournament. Not until it was brought to the ref's attention that he did not have criteria for DQing him because it was only his second UC, did the ref turn the call into flagrant so he could Dq the kid. Also is it not the ref's job to control the match before these kind of things happen? Fisherwas obviously jawing after the match, but is that as bad as the elbow shiver thrown to face of the Goddard 140 pounder in the finals by the Manhatten wrestler splitting his lip wide open, Bleeding profusely worse. Luckily there was only one second left in the match. I'll take a little jawing over forearm shivers any day. Especially since the jawing wresler just took a kick from the other wrestler. Jawing after a kick is not nearly as bad as an unprovoked forearm shiver to the mouth. Jawing gets a DQ. Forearm shiver gets a single team point. Go figure.

I'm not trying to change anything. Just trying to get some facts out. It is the first thing I have posted on the matter and I believe I have a right to my opinion Chase.

Fisher messed up. Get over it. If he'd just kept his mouth shut then none of this would have happened. I mean really, how much trash talking do you have to do while tech-falling someone? He should have let his wrestling speak for itself and I'm sure from here on out he will, so stop complaining about what happened because it's over and can't be changed.

You cannot stack a wrestler over their head you have to take them to the side. I dont know if this is just a kids rule but that is the way we have always been taught. And even if that isn't a rule it was still a slam. You have to return the wrestler to the mat under control and on your neck is not under control.

The only GOOD that can come out of this bogus and tragic situation is if Martinez has officiated his last match. He just couldn't see clear enough to remove his stinking pride for one second and do the right thing!! He had 40 minutes worth of opportunity to do so!! Get off the recruiting thing too!! It didn't happen!!

Get off the recruiting thing too!! It didn't happen!! Oh that's right, all of Goddard's wrestlers have always and do presently live it the Goddard school district. If you want to play that game you have to take a little crap, deal with it! It just seems absolutely hilarious to me that one of the guys that they brought in to make sure they win another state title cost them the state title. Funniest thing EVER!

How on earth could you come up with this. If he doesnt transfer in Goddard would not have gotten his points. So the points would probably been virtually the same as if he wasnt there.

And don't say that we brought fisher in to make sure we won a title. Yes he is one of the best wrestlers in the state at that whieght in my opinion but even if we didn't have him we had a jv wrestler that would have been varsity that could have gotten us those points so don't play that recruit card.

why does everyone have to bitch at a good program like goddard? fisher screwed up, but hes a great wrestler. he gets 3rd at a minimum if that doesn't happen. and why does everyone have to play the recruiting card? someone asked if all goddard's wrestlers lived in district, who cares? public schools in kansas have right to accept transfers, thats not recruiting. recruiting is calling or talking to people and trying to convince them to come to your school for wrestling. i dont believe anyone from Goddard's staff contacted fisher or anyone else. if an athlete chooses to attend Goddard because of a solid wrestling program or anything else that is their business and no reason to slam the Goddard stuff. so until you have proof of recruiting that is going on do us all a favor and shut the hell up.

wrestle007,
Why do you deny these people the right to have a scapegoat? If people want to make excuses then let them. Sometimes people have to do and say things to make themselves feel better, and this is no different. If they want to believe they didn't win state because another team MIGHT have recruited then let them. Conjecture is never going to win a team a title.

tiger- i suppose you're right. it just bothers me when people feel forced to bash those who are successful. success should be embraced, not scorned, i'm not even from Goddard or a Goddard fan. but they are an example of a public Kansas High School wrestling program that has gotten recognition on a National level. We need more schools like that. but, i should probably just let people moan, as you said that has never made anyone a champion.

I think a lot of the Catholic Schools get a lot of grief for recruiting, but it's not like they all "recruit" if that was the case Topeka Hayden would have all the wrestlers in Topeka wrestling for them. Then again, they might just recruit football players.
