I actually did not coach Matt, just have had the pleasure of knowing him and the Pyle family. I did coach Jason, if you want to call getting my butt kicked this year by him in practice coaching!
Jason is so far undecided-he knows the time it takes to be good, especially in college-but he changes his mind day to day. Maybe if he has a good run at Nationals he will give future wrestling more of a thought.
Either way if Matt wins a second title-it will be the second time that little brother wins a state title and big brother wins a national title a week apart and both were there to cheer each other on.The first time was two years ago when Jason won his first title at 130lbs and Matt won DIII at 149lbs. Jason is currently at the tourney and Matt was at Hays for the 3rd State title for Jason. Kinda cool!

I have heard a lot of debate that the winner of the weight should be the OW of the National Tournament, but if Levesseur wins it at 165 he will be a 4x undefeated champ and might steal some limelight.

If you go to the links page at the left and go to college and university, then click on the divisions tab you can get live streaming video of the finals tonight.
It should be a good match, Matt has defeated the guy he is werstling in the finals once this year already. Allyn Plattner called and said that Matt is on a mission and is wrestling the best he has ever seen!
Hope it all goes well for him! Coach Brown

I just saw Matt Pyle of Sabetha pinned J. Rousch from somewhere in the finals in the First Period! Way to go Matt and Jason two great wrestlers from North East Kansas! Matt finished a great career in Iowas and it was the second National Champ for the Luther Norse! Coach Brown

Congrats to Matt Pyle. It would be cool if he could make it back to Kansas for Kid's State and sign some autographs for all the future college wrestlers.

Returning All-American and top-seeded Matt Pyle of Luther College was voted the Outstanding Wrestler of the 2007 tournament by the coaches following his 149 pound pin of fourth seeded Jason Roush of Mt. St. Joseph in the championship match. Pyle also pinned his first two opponents of the tournament at 2:31 and 0:31 of those respective bouts.

Not bad for a guy that placed just 4th in 3-2-1A his Senior year. His weight class that year was LOADED! Congratulations Matt!
