You can be sure that Missouri is not going to train like they have the past two years in the future for this event. One would guess that this will make them prepare seriously as the Kansas teams have the past few years. I think that is really what many of the matches came down to. I am really beginning to enjoy this event. I cannot wait until next years Metro Classic.

I suppose that's a real tribute to Tonganoxie coach Bryan Goebel and the other Team Kansas coaches who've been preparing the guys for this event the past two years.

I think that the training done by several coaches in the last two years is a giant reason "our" wrestlers are making a better accounting of themselves.
In the past I have been a bit critical of the cavalier way we approached this event. Last year, we entered the event having been spanked three years in a row. These past two, Kansas was the underdogs and through hard work, won!

I agree, Goebel is a relatively new face in Kansas wrestling, but he is now beginning to make a name for himself. He would be a great addition to Cadets/Juniors work if you ask me. I have been coaching with Goebel since my days at DeSoto and I've seen great things come in a short time with relatively little resources to work with. I definately see Goebel getting more and more recognition for what he has the potential to bring to Kansas wrestling.
Again, great job Team Kansas!

Also, his name is Jeremy, not Bryon. Easy mistake though, I often forget or are plain wrong with names of people I respect and feel like an ass for it.

Awesome job Coach. This is Joe Payne and if you could give that information to me for Senior Nationals then that would be great.

Joe I looked up on the national high school web page and it showed how to go about a wild card. The email address is http://www.nhsca.com/event and then go down to wild cards and it explains. Let me know you received this and great job last night you and all of your teammates.

Hey Joe just go google the national high school wrestling championships and then click on wrestling and on that page it talks about wildcards.

Let me know you received this and great job last night you and all of your teammates. Eligibility: Must have senior eligibility in high school and a public high school state champion or runner-up or national prep school champion or runner-up during your high school career. New York, New Jersey, and Indiana will qualify the top four wrestlers in each weight class due to past performance and because there is only one division in their state tournament. California will qualify the top eight in each weight class because they have more than 800 high school wrestling programs and only one state championship. Arkansas will qualify only its State Champions since this is the first year for a State Championship in Arkansas. The National Champion and All-Americans (top eight place finishers) in the High School Junior Nationals and the top four finishers from the high school division of the NHSCA National Open Wrestling Championships are also eligible. All entries must be done on-line. Entry deadline is March 25 (must be received by March 25) Wild Cards - If you are not qualified according to the criteria above, do not submit an entry on-line. You may have an opportunity to receive one of the limited number of wild cards that are determined at the state level to highly-accomplished wrestlers. To inquire about this and determine who your state representative is, email the NHSCA at nhsca@nhsca.com and put wild card in the subject line.
