Maybe if I would of wrestled in the first couple events I could of handled it. But now if I tried to wrestle, I'd wind up in the convalescent home for the remainder of my days!!

Well said, Mr. Hurla. The atmosphere at this event the past two years by both Kansas and Missouri fans says a ton about the interest in this event. Both sides have loyal, spirited fans who savor this event. Those that earn the right to represent their states take a lot of pride in that honor. That does a lot to explain why tensions run deep at times (such as in the heavyweight match), but that also does a lot to explain why the gym will be packed for it again next year!

One thing is clear to me as I read this thread. A. Gary Mayhab is a great coach and a better guy. I know Gary Mayabb is also a pretty darn good official. He refereed the NCAA DII Championships this past weekend, so he understands the rules, and the fact he coaches he knows what goes on from both sides of the stripes.
