Wow. Thanks Richard. Anybody know anything about Sanford? Sanford is a 2X State Champion from Georgia. He went 62-0 this year. Sanford finished in 6th place! Now that is a tough tournament.

I just got back to the hotel from the finals of the tourney! WOW ... I saw some great matches! A couple of number 1 ranked in the Nation against the number 2. All but a few were ranked in the top 10 by W.I.N. magazine.
I witnessed a couple of tech falls, one pin, two overtime matches and the rest some real close barn-burners! I saw Deron Winn from Missouri win the National Championship!
Overall, a great experience! The venue was tough to see the matches in, given their bleacher setup. But no one runs a tournament as well as USAW-Kansas.
We have a team meeting in an hour and then we will probably debrief for a while! We will be taking three separate flights home tomorrow and will be good to get back to Kansas!
More later ... What did you think of Trice in the finals? I know he just signed with DI Central Michigan not too long ago.

randy, just wanted to say i too enjoyed the reports from virginia beach on how our kids were doing. it was great following all of them through the reports and the brackets that were posted. especially enjoyed following the NCKL wrestlers. i noticed that at 135 that jamie hosfelt's 2 losses were to the eventual champion and 3rd place winner! all of us here in marysville are proud of what jaime has accomplised in just 4 years of wrestling. just goes to show that even if you dont have years of mat experience what you can achieve with hard work and drive. again thx and congratulations to all our fine kansas wrestlers.you have represented your schools and state well

... and Jamie was one my personal favorites! He was bunking in a room with yours truly so had to endure an old man who while sleeping, sounds like a broken chainsaw!
Yes, Jamie did outstanding! His first match, he was wrestling a chap from Alaska who had just a handful of losses on his career. Jamie found himself on his back early in that match. Digging out from a deficit is tough at this level but Jamie did just that! He scratched and clawed back and took the lead in the third. He won that match and went on to win one other on the day.
Hosfelt is a great young man and a great representative of the NCKL.
p.s. Jamie, I have your warm-up bottoms. I will arrange to ship them to you!

Yes, Trice was a dominant athlete and gained the fall in the heavy-weight division.
I was also impressed by the quickness of Jamal Parks, the 140-pounder of Tulsa Union, who has only be wrestling since the 9th grade. His quickness reminded me on Shawn Bunch. And there was him team-mate, Seth Vernon who was the runner-up at 145.
At 119-pounds, was one of most talked about matches of the night. Number 1 ranked, Zach Sanders of Minnesota, was facing the number 2 ranked, Nikko Triggas of California. Triggas took the early lead by putting Sanders on his back early. But Sanders who climb his way back and support his number 1 ranking!
Equally impressive was Ohio's Colt Sponseller, who had beaten Kansan, Kyle Allen, earlier in the tourney, 1-17. Tim Darling of Pennsylvania was a beast at 152.
But of course, all the finalists were outstanding wrestlers!

I watched Pyle from somewhere in Kansas throw a bonified 3x timer stud from I think michigan with 3 seconds in regulation to tie it up. He came up short in ot or dbl ot but there were a dozen coaches very impress with this young man. I don't know him or his plans but this kid really has potential and I would encourage him to wrestle in college.

Jason Pyle is a bonafide star! I believe his plans are to follow his brother Matt, who is a 2-time National Champ, to Luther College!
Pyle is from Sabetha and has been coached by Team Kansas coach, Jason Brown.
