When a first come first serve type of weigh in it makes it tough, I really think Jack Roller has almost perfected the concept of tournament organization. Weigh ins seldom last more than an hour for anyone now, unless they want to weigh in late or are having to make weight. He has scales in one of the wrestling room, and wrestlers are separated according to age or grade. They are then called down according to weight, get checked through the line with one person checking registration, another with skin checks, then wrestler weighs in. Very smooth and each weight actually gets through rather easily and the wrestlers know it will do no good to rush up to the front of the line.

Things look to be pretty good here as of now, it is tough the way the wrestlers are seperated, none of our high school kids will be up until a little later, one of the complaints from many of the HS wrestlers is sharing the mat time and feeling like the event is taking away from "their" showcase. I certainly understand the reasoning behind having the smaller kids but showcasing our HS wrestlers, in their "own event" is something many of them looked forward to.(just reporting their feelings here folks).

I also think the tournament organizers are doing a good job of making this a true National event with a true national experience. This includes clinics, autograph sessions and much more.

One complaint, is that on line brackets would be a nice thing. I know maybe selfish but it is a pain to have to go through and do bout sheets with all of the commotion in the KCI Center.

All in all, the day is getting started and the sessions will all have their fair share of Kansas Wrestlers. We are expecting a long 2 days, with little time off, hopefully we will have our fair share of wrestlers in the finals tomorrow afternoon.

This tournament is being contested on 20 mats! It takes a ton of volunteers to pull an event like this off! I'm seeing lots of friends from around the State and around the Nation!
