I would like say congrats to Beau Vest on getting the Dana College Job. I had the pleasure of being Coach Vest asst. for 3 yrs. I can say 1st hand that he is a great coach and mentor to wrestlers. (Story Below)
Dana College hires Beau Vest as head wrestling coach Dana College 05/17/2007
Dana College is pleased to announce the appointment of four-time NAIA All-American wrestler Beau Vest as head wrestling coach for the Dana Vikings.
“I am confident that Coach Vest is going to help us continue the national prominence we have built in NAIA wrestling over the last several years,” said Athletic Director Bill Danenhauer.
Vest has served as head wrestling coach at Topeka High School in Topeka, Kan., for the past six years where he coached 11 state medalists, three state finalists and two state champions. He also has been a member of the Team Kansas Cadet Freestyle/Greco National Coaching staff.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Missouri Valley College in mathematics and secondary education in 2001 where he was a four-time NAIA Wrestling All-American, three-time National Finalist and 1996 National Champion at 118 pounds. He also attended Oklahoma State University.
He helped lead NAIA wrestling powerhouse Missouri Valley College to two national team titles and three runner-up finishes.
“I am very excited to make the move to college wrestling. Being able to come in and coach at an established NAIA program is a huge bonus. I feel the NAIA is one of the very best divisions for the student athlete to compete in and I look forward to bringing quality kids to Dana College,” stated Vest.
Vest inherits a program that has excelled on the mat and in the classroom. The Vikings were NAIA National Champions in 2006 and finished fourth at the national meet this season.
The Dana College Vikings came in as the top team in the NWCA/NAIA All-Academic team tally for 2007. Five Dana wrestlers were named to the All-Academic team, while the overall program at Dana ranked No. 1 with a 3.34 team GPA, finishing well ahead of second-place Campbellsville University, which came in with an overall 3.176.
Vest replaces Richard Fergola who has been hired as head wrestling coach at North Iowa Area Community College.

Thank you all for the well wishes. I am very excited for this new oppurtunity. I do want to thank all the wonderful people that work so hard to provide so much for wrestlers of our state. It has been a pleasure working with many of you. The devolpement of Kansas into a powerhouse is something that took many to achieve and I am proud to have been a small part. I would also like to bring some Kansas kids with me. We have a couple Kansas kids that I am really excited about, but would like more. Anyone interested in talking with me my email is the most stable right now. beauvest@hotmail.com Also, I do miss getting lost while haveing our talks on the road Coach Parks. I bet you don't get lost nearly as much now. Thanks, Beau Vest

You are right, I don't get lost as much now. But, only b/c I've discovered Mapquest. We are the only two coaches who could leave Salina in route to Topeka and end up in Concordia. Luckily Dana is an easy drive up the road next to Omaha.

Congratulations Beau...Beau has the passion, dedication, and ethics that any high quality program desires to have in a head coach. Dana has made an excellent decision.

Beau Vest congratulations this is Awesome for you and your wife. I know Don and Alieen are proud of you as well as your sister and brothers. But Beau I know you will miss the Halls of Troy and the City of Topeka. Just think NO daily lesson plans, IEP's, Hall duty, fund-raising so you can attend a good quality tournaments. On the other hand you fit the college system perfectly: Your Knowledge and having wrestled in the Missouri Valley and Oklahoma State wrestling rooms will enhance your teachings of young college wrestlers. Here in Manhattan we have several tough recuits for you next season. Good Luck my friend and if I can help you please call on me. Coach Gonzales
