Chief, if you think back, he weighed 215 at end of July. His "walk-around-weight" during football is more like 230-235. The high school wrestling practices alone will cut 10 lbs., if all else remains the same. A simple change in diet will remove the rest. I can assure you that he eats 4-5 times a day, and drinks gallons of water. Yes I too agree that IF he is going to be a heavyweight, that is where he should wrestle. However, the quantity and quality of matches from competitive standpoint is better at 215. Not that I'm knocking anyone, just that bigger guys tend to stand around and jockey for position. Smaller guys tend to actually wrestle, which is what we are hoping for, as spectators. Joe was told at OSU intensive camp by a coach, that he could wrestle 197 in college, and not have a weight problem, the training is that intense.
All that being said, Joe has a pretty good understanding of all factors, and usually comes up with good decisions, by himself.


If he can stay at 215 for the Duals, Team Kansas would be greatly improved. I know when he missed weight last year, they felt the pain. I just figured that he would follow in your footsteps and continue to grow, making 215 tough to make again.
