But I think you're missing the point of the co-op programs....
There are kids in schools that want to wrestle but their school district can't afford the cost of a coach and transportation for just a handful of kids. The neighboring school offers to the other school to join them, get matches, get experience and compete as a member of the team.
I will say this...the idea the teams have to split up for Regionals is something I have never agreed with. Some states allow sharing teams to stay together during the postseason, but the punchline is that the enrollment numbers are added together and that program would compete in a higher class. So if Pittsburg and SMC combined in this case for wrestling, chances are they'd have to be a 5A school.
It's a trade-off, but you wouldn't have the discussion you have now.
