With High School Regionals approaching, KCWC would like to say good luck to all!

After Regionals are over many will be looking for their favorite kids clubs to get more mat time and wrestle for Kids Subs, Districts and State. I would like to suggest that you contact those clubs soon so they may apply for your USA card, then you are able to wrestle at a sanctioned event.

KCWC will begin sign-ups within the next week so you can begin practicing when Regionals are over.

Can't high school JV wrestlers go on and join now with a Kids Club since their season is over?

I'm not sure of the rules.

Once a wrestler is released from his high school team, they can begin practicing for the kids club. Some JV wrestlers stay on and are practice partners for Varsity but most are released after league tournaments.

So the weekend of State the kids can wrestle at Liberty Nationals (or wherever) if they are not wrestling at State? Is this correct?
Thanks

Army1, that is correct. I would encourage everyone who doesn't make it to state to go and watch state if it were all being held in one location but since it is not you should lace up the shoes, head to KC and wrestle in the Liberty Nationals event. There will be lots of quality HS wrestlers from MO, NE and other states who have already wrapped up their seasons.

I would go support your high school team at the state tournament. Sometimes the importance of "team" is overlooked in wrestling and that is a real shame. I realize that all the classes are not together in one location and mat time at Liberty would be valuable, but a young non-qualifier could learn a lot by going and watching one of the State Tourneys. If nothing else, it would serve them well to go see what the goal is.

I would take the best of both ideas and start practicing with your Kids Club during the week, but go to State to support your high school team.

A big DITTO to that! Some people do a good job of talking team but when it comes down to it they are only in it for their own interests. Go watch your team at state regardless of where it is located!

in reference to your "some people" sportsfan, um... bite tounge..
lets not assume anything. For wrestlers who are not experienced and have been to a state tournament they have goals. If attending another venue for a challenge is something they want then so be it. As for their own interests- that is why they call it your "opinion"
