With the recent bad news of some top wrestlers being hurt in regionals, who are some wrestlers that have won state while they wer injured?

I know you said winning it... but in 1996 John Moses (Dodge City boy) blew his knee out at Regionals and forfeited to 4th place. At state he got into the state finals losing a very close match to Kyle Hobbs out of KC area "I think". He was a state champion the previous year 1995.

THIS DUDE WAS A BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the Schippers twins from Hoxie won state with a broken leg a few years back. If I remember correctly he had to win the match or Hoxie doesn't win the team title... physically and mentally tough.

Well Jed Mamie made it to the finals on a broken leg, only to lose. But it was rather impressive watching his wrestle.

Agreed about Mamie. I know a lot of people thought he wouldn't wrestle at all, let alone accomplish what he did.

Aaron Ely got his ankle pretty monkeyed up against Livengood in the semis last year, it caused him not to wrestle metro classic.

Mike Medina won regionals and state in 1988 on one knee. He had surgery Tuesday following the state tournament.

When should a kid rest an injury for fear of further or even permanent injury? I admire these young men's courage, but I hope we don't create a role-model superstar that says 'always wrestle, NO MATTER WHAT." That kind of mentality can get you killed and/or crippled for the rest of your life. Just to play devil's advocate - is it really worth it? Again, I mean no disrespect to the ones that did it. And, I do understand that you can REST after the big dance, but 'what if' after never comes and you end up crippled for the rest of your life? I guess it is ultimately up to each wrestler and their parents. I am not looking for cloning. Individuality is the way to go. I imagine all involved were fully informed of their risks. However, I think we still have a responsibility to be careful about what we glorify.

I think you must make your decision after carefully listening to the doctor. If you are not going to do any more damage than what has already been done, then I think if you can gut it out then go ahead. Wasn't there a couple of Norton guys that won while fighting through some elbow problems and almost going one handed?

Curtis Brown from Norton was the wrestler that one with a hurt elbow. He pretty much wrestled the tournament with one arm. He was a tough, tough, kid.
