Keep in mind that Nassau and Harper are both in the non-scholarship division of the tournament, so Labette placed 3rd, Colby 6th and Neosho in a tie for 8th in the DI portion of the event.
Iowa Central earned the title. They battled through some very tough early draws. And also keep in mind that they red-shirted two returning national champions (157 Nate Carr, Jr and 165 Colby Covington) and a national runner-up (141 Joe Soto) this year. Returning champ Jon Jones (197) had red-shirted the year before. It amazes me that they can afford to keep the current line-up full of future DI talent and keep red-shirting finalists like they are. Lassen used to do it to, but never on this scale.....must have some gi-normous funding there.
Labette also had a great run. In most years that kind of performance would have earned them the national title, but ICCC and Meramec were loaded this year.
Colby and Neosho put together a decent tournament.
And despite some horrible draws, Pratt wrestled tough. Edgmon, Carrillo and Fairly all made some nice runs after early losses.
We should all be proud of our Kansas representation at the nation meet.
