Registration closes at midnight on Monday-March 17. Brackets without bout numbers will be released shortly after. Please come and support our inagural event. You will not be disappointed you did.
• 10 full sized mats on the arena floor. • Parade of athletes. • Medal rounds will be ran in a grand format on full sized mats. • Plaques will be awarded to the top six competitors at each weight. Podium shots will be offered. • And much, much more.
I would like to thank all of the wrestlers who choose to support our tourney in advance. No matter how grand the venue, we cannot do it without the kids. This will be a day set aside for them; our under six “champions”. Both sites will offer good wrestling and I encourage all of you that can to support both tournaments. It does not have to be either/or or "us vs them". Both venues are working hard to put a positive product out for the kids. Keep that in mind as you make your choice. Good luck with the remainder of your season.

Would like to attend this tournament. It would be great if the tournament was held the week before subs. or the Sunday after districts. To much driving to get all kids weighed in for districts.

I would hope to see the future 6 and under sometime in January. Its a long season for these kids and the really good ones can continue with the 8 year olds if the season was shortened. Something for you all to think about in the future. Thanks goes out to all those that support the 6 and unders and hope they keep getting the support in the future. These young kids need all of our support.

It was our original intent to wrestle this tournament the Sunday following Districts. This year Easter falling on our District weekend made us switch our date. Our 2009 event will move to the Sunday following the District tournament.
We have a plan in place to finish this tournament by 4pm at the latest. Of the 10 full mats we will be laying down, 7 will be split into 14 half mat surfaces. With 18 weight divisions most mats will have a single weight division wrestling on it. The remaining three full mats will be reserved to feature the medal rounds as the brackets finish up. We have a plan to handle the awards presentations and podium shots efficiently and get you on your way. Even with time being the essence of the topic at hand, we plan to give these kids a great experience.
I let map quest do a little work for me… Topeka to Andover (District 2 Host Site) 128miles or approximately a 2hr drive Topeka to McPherson (District 3 Host Site) 149miles or approximately a 2 1/2hr drive Topeka to Hays (District 4 Host Site) 205 miles or approximately a 3hr drive
You should have plenty of time to compete for a 6 and Under Kansas State Title and still make Friday evening weigh-ins at your District locations; or make it home and get a good night sleep before trekking to Saturday morning weigh-ins.
I have listened to many of you argue about the need to give these kids a “bigger stage” for ten years. I have come up with a plan that does just that. My plan is not perfect; I will admit that up front. Again I would like to thank all of you that have already sent me registrations. Please keep them coming!

Can Entries be emailed or do you need them sent regular mail. Also it says to list record and tournament placings for seatable kids. My son has competed in 8U in most tournaments only wrestling 6U twice. Do I list only tournaments we wrestled in the 6U division or all tournaments?

I would make sure you put that he placed in last years state also. Dont think he will have too much trouble getting a top seed.

Mark Thanks for answering my questions. Sent you an email last night and hard copy with check today. Done by 4 would be awesome so we can try to make Hays Friday night for weigh in. I am willing to try make it to Hays in 2 1/2 hours if you are going to pay my speeding tickets but Hays is a good 3 hour drive with no pit stops. With 2 young kids pit stops are a given. Hopefully my little guy will wrestle alot of matches and be worn out so he sleeps all the way to Hays, that would cut out the pit stops. This is our last year at 6U and we are glad to support both Ottawa and Topeka. Kudos to both for giving the 6U a chance to compete on the highest stage.

Yes we are going to try to support Ottawa and Topeka tournaments; but this is going to be hectic. I have to drive from Scott City to Dodge City which is an hour and a half. Then after sub-districts I have to drive to Ottawa which is another 5 hours, wrestle and drive home 6 and a half hours. Then on Thursday leave for Topeka another 5.5 hours from Scott City. Leave Topeka Friday from the tournament and drive to Hays, which I believe is 4 hours. Wrestle Saturday and drive back to Scott City another 2 hours. My wife is going to love those speeding tickets; but in the end we will make it work.

We currently have wrestlers from 25 Kansas clubs represented at our event.

Entrees have been lighter than expected, but we have some good kids represented. Please keep your entrees coming so we can ensure a quality event. You have until midnight on Monday-March 17th. As an added incentive, I am offering to discount one entree for every five that your club signs up. Talk it up and get some more of the Under Six Champions to sign up. We have two special offers for those that want to sign up for our event. The first is if your club signs up five competitors your sixth will be FREE. We are also prepared to invite the top four place winners of the Ottawa-March 16th tournament to compete in Topeka FREE of charge. For those who have all ready signed up; see me at weigh-ins and I will adjust your entry fees. We know that you have choices in what events you compete in and many of us have limited resources. Your young champions have competed hard all year. We are confident that if you choose to make our tournament your child’s finale event, that you will not be disappointed. Give me a call if you have any questions. Mark Stanley 785/224-5161 under_six_kstoc@yahoo.com

Add Gray Co, Altamont, Marysville, Olathe South, Piper, Chanute, Junction City, Columbus, Beloit, Atchison, Paola and the Topeka Tornados to the list of participating clubs. You still have time to get your registrations in. Email them to me at under_six_kstoc@yahoo.com by midnight tonight. Your 6U competitors do not want to miss out on this event! Thank you.
