I think you have to mix Gage Matlock from the Junior Comets in there! He won subs in the south and there were several of the above kids in that bracket!Skeens got fourth and Parenti only 5th or 6th!

The fact that girls are forced to wrestle at state in the middle of the week is laughably sexist.

A bit biased, but, Brody Roberson should probably be in the mix at 58lbs. Might not show, but, if he does, look out.

A couple kids moved their stock up this weekend . . . at 55, Matlock from Chanute, and at 58, Gowin from Leavenworth County, and Roberson from Newton.
District 2 at 58 is going to be tough but great to watch . . . Guyer, Ayala, Cassaboom, Murphy, Comstock, and Terrill . . . and unfortunately two will stay home.
55 Treaster, Steele, Joint, Schroeder, Spexarth, Matlock, Ward and Flood
58 Jurgens, the four qualifiers from Distrit 2 (whoever they will be), Gowin, Lowell, and Roberson

Yes, Roberson from Newton had a good tournament this weekend. He doesn't score a lot but he can be difficult to score on when he is wrestling well.
He does comes from one heck of a wrestling family by the way. His cousin, Cody Garcia, just won his second Division II title on Saturday, and his uncle, Zach Roberson, is in the hunt to represent the USA in the Olympics. Not to mention all his other uncles and cousins who have won multiple state championships.

Should be a pretty interesting weekend in Districts I, II, and III at 55 pounds. In District I you will have Steele with Matlock, Ward, and Flood fighting it out. In District II you will likely have Spexarth v. Schroeder, and in District III you will have Joint v. Treaster.
Tough to say who is peaking at the right time, but just from the scores looks like Joint, Schroeder, Treaster, and Steele all dominated their respective sub-district.

I just wanted to say to all the kids and parents in the 8U 58 weight bracket that I am so very proud of all of them and what great sportsmanship they all had after their final matches yesterday! While they were waiting for their plaques in the Exhibit Hall, I believe it was the 3rd place kid from Maize (Owunbugfor -spelling?), started shaking all of the boys hands and then they all shook hands with each other. It was one of the most amazing moments of the whole day for me and I wanted to congratulate all the boys for such a great job, for all their hard work and for the great sportsmanship they had! What a great wrestling family!

Thank you for the positive post. My son has wrestled all year with these boys and will have to say I have been very impressed. Not only with the kids, but also the coaches. I think alot could be learned from these boys. Thanks to Ayala, Onwugbufor, Murphy, and Terrill. We look forward to seeing you next year. Jessica Cassaboom

Watching ALL of the above mentioned this year I have to say this made for one exciting state tournament!!!! Every kid that placed or even made to the big show deserved to be there. When it came down to the finals every match was one to watch, you could see that each boy wanted that last win of the season....Whether they won or lost these boys have respect for one another and in my opinion it showed.
TO ALL THE BOYS AT 58 and 55 CONGRATULATIONS, BEING AT STATE IS A HUGE HONOR AND EACH ONE OF YOU PROVED YOU ARE GREAT WRESTLERS!!!!
Will and I look forward to next year with all of you!!!
Eric (Greater Gold, Wichita)
