I have had the same experience with my son, who is 8, but the punishment was not that severe. He was playing with another boy on the playground when the other boy took what my son said out of context and hit my son. Being a wrestler, my son took the other boy down in the headlock. LOL! Needless to say, the other boy did not like the headlock. My son and the other boy got punished by the school, because of the "Hands off policy". They both had to miss recesses. My son did not get punished at home though. My rule is if someone hits you first, hit back and we will be behind you 100%; but if you hit first, then there will be punishment at home.

Must be something in the air back in Kansas. My wife told me on Wednesday that Hunter (my avatar choice) had been bit on the arm by another kid at his Pre-K class that morning. The boy had taken something from another student and Hunter instisted that he give it back. Although he was wearing a fairly heavy coat, Hunter still had a bite mark on his arm. I guess when I get home I will show Hunter the proper way to set the cross face and then finish it strong.

It really must have been in the air this week, my son also came home telling me how he was getting picked on by another kid twice his size and when the kid pushed him from behind he had enough and decided to take the kid down with a head and arm. He then said he crossed faced the kid hard enough to make his nose bleed and when everyone in the gym (track practice was getting ready to start) started oohing and ahhing he realized he had better let the kid go. He was not seen by an adult so there were no punishments handed out at school and I also didn't hand any out at home. I have always told my kids they were allowed to defend themselves but once the situation is calm they must let go and walk away. Being on the small side my son is always getting picked on usually just ignores them, but I guess this kid has been really pickin at him and pushing him around for weeks now so he had enough and decided to end it. Seems to be the week for self defense fights. lol

Now if he hit with a blast double leg ... he should be applauded!! I told him he should have hit a blast double & then ground & pound baby. Good grief, just got another call from school, why do kids listen the most when it's questionable advice? take down followed by ground & pound! He has had 2 fights ever in school, but 2 weeks in a row?

Allie,
I think you are right. The barometric pressure just went up at our house a couple of days ago. My 12, soon to be 13 year old wrestler asked me on a vid call if he could "have a girlfriend tomorrow". I said "yes, just for tomorrow". He hasn't been this interested in a girl since he was in kindergarden. Back then it was cute, now ......... ??? I did tell him a while back that the only time of year I didn't have a girlfriend was during wrestling season and I expected him to keep up the tradition. That being said, I guess he can have a girlfriend for more than a day, but only until wrestling starts back up.
