Two more to add to the list...
145 - Mitchell Means 189 - Boaz Beard
Boaz had considered going this year but had been asked too late. If we could plan a year ahead, I'm sure he could miss 1 baseball tournament. One of the issues that I think is holding us back is the lack of a State Dual team coordinator. We have tremendous coaches in Kansas. They need to focus on coaching and training our wrestlers. It is pressing them to wear too many hats to expect them to recruit potential wrestlers, encourage parent participation, create the itinerary for the trips, etc. Your point about the seniors is clear. Illinois, Iowa and Oklahoma had many seniors on their team. We have to establish a clear selection process that includes participation at State, Southern Plains camp and Southern Plains. Seeding points are all too important in giving your wrestlers the best chance to succeed.
We know the talent of Kansas wrestlers. If we had 1 of those 4 noted wrestlers that missed this year, I believe this team would have finished 3rd!

Clarification on rules.... it says that Zach Vesta wrestled 98 for the juniors.... Dont you have to atleast complete or be enrolled in high school... I only know this because of a prior experience... The summer in between my sophomore and junior year me and collin hase wrestled at jr duals. I had asked mrs Altman, "Why cant Nathan (Furches) take it, he would fair better than me" She informed me you had to be enrolled in high school. So is this a rule or not?

JUNIOR DIVISION: Athletes shall be considered eligible to compete in Junior Division competitions if he/she is currently attending high school, or participating in a program considered by the State’s Department of Education to be fulfilling the athlete’s requirements for graduation from an accredited high school program, or if a summer event, attended high school, or participated in a program considered by the State’s Department of Education to be fulfilling the athlete’s requirements for graduation from an accredited high school program the “Spring” semester just prior to the summer event. In addition, the athlete has only four consecutive years to compete in the Junior Division once his/her class begins the ninth grade. Zach Vesta was a freshman during the 2007-2008 school year at Manhattan High School.

Thanks Mr. Salyer I did not realize that Zach was that old. After being out of high school for a year I sometimes lose track of how old some guy's are.
