Ok, I have put on my armour and I have a shield on both arms! I am ready for the jousting and spear chucking to begin!
I am tired of all of the 321A whiners out there! They want to keep their state tournament all by themselves out at Ft. Hays, they don't go to Newton, the Bobcat, Derby, KCI, Garden City, or any of the tournaments where the big schools are. Is it easier to qualify for 5A and 6A, darn sure is but it is much harder to win it! Now I know there are exceptions but for the most part 321A doesn't belong in the all class rankings. They don't wrestle in the summer, they don't go to the tournaments where the competition is tough, etc. Why am I so bent out of shape? There are more of them out there than 5A and 6a combined so they control the rule and policy making that happens under KSHSAA. They have super high teacher to student ratios which makes their education per student WAY more expensive than the bigger schools but they cry about leveling the playing field and impose regulations that push those who want to excel down! Then they get on here and cry about respect!
That is the way it is! Many of those guys are my friends and they still are as far as I am concerned but someone needed to set the record straight!

First of all, my student to teacher ratio is about 20 to 1 in my classroom. Secondly, our wrestlers worked out this summer twice a week, and went to the Nebraska team camp. We go to the Hays tournament, the Liberal tournament, and the Colby tournament. On top of that, we host the Holiday Classic. I also know we are not the only small school to wrestle said tournaments.

We can only go were are school will let us go! Exactly! I feel sorry for the wrestlers in 321A because they would wrestle whoever, wherever. I am not questioning their character or desire. It is the coaches and administrators that have their little networks, wrestling the same schools and the same schedule every year. I know Aaron would love the opportunity to do more. There are lots of good kids and great wrestlers in 321A that are never put into a position to prove their ALL CLASS value. Crossface King, Goodland just happens to be one of the largest if not the largest 321A school. I am sure if you added up your administrators and teachers and divided that number into your total number of students your ratio would be much better than Lawrence Free State High School's. I didn't see many 321A wrestlers at FS/GR state, Southern Plains, or Fargo. It is hard to tell where to rate a wrestler when they never wrestle anyone that permits you to evaluate how good they are or could be. How many 4A, 5A, and 6A state champions were at the events you mentioned? I just listed the top tournaments available, in my opinion, and none of the ones you listed are in the top five. Newton, Derby, Bobcat, Garden City, and Blue Valley NW. These offer the best of the best in Kansas as well as some out of state competition. The BEST tournament available within the 500 mile KSHSAA barrier is the KCI Classic. It offers a serious taste of top level national competition. Team Camps are an expensive but easy way to say your doing someting extra in the summer, jmo.

You sure have done your homework Cokeley (708)267-6615. You said and I quote, "they don't go to Newton, the Bobcat, Derby, KCI, Garden City, or any of the tournaments where the big schools are."
What little 321-A school would even think they could compete at a Tourn. like the Newton TOC. It would be very difficult for a little school to run with the big dogs. I'm sure no 321A school has ever won that Tourn.(Newton) And it would be amazing if a little school could have won it two years in a row. Would 6 wrestlers in the Championship finals at Newton in one year constitute a good showing at this elite tournamnent ? Or do you have to be a 5A or 6A to make it count ?
Maybe you should study the results of some of these tournaments that you cited before making a BLANKET statement about ALL 321-A Schools.
Get back to your homework and get your facts straight. I'm sure I will hear from you again, but you will not hear from me again on this subject.

You guys finished 9th as the ONLY 321A school in there. I really didn't include Norton as a part of the 321A We don't get any respect whiner group but if you insist, no problem. My facts are straight and I don't really care whether I hear from you again or not. I made a comment as a generalization, a generalization you cannot dispute. There will be, as I clearly stated, exceptions. I retract that statement, I would like to hear from you. How many will you have in the finals THIS YEAR? I am pulling for all of those kids who stepped it up and went the extra mile to get better, Zane and the kids who went with us to Iowa the past couple of years! Good luck to the Bluejays this year!

Norton's previous two trips to Newton's TOC resulted in two team titles and maybe a 3rd if not for bad weather prohibiting travel.

Norton's previous two trips to Newton's TOC resulted in two team titles and maybe a 3rd if not for bad weather prohibiting travel. Yet and still none of those wrestlers are available to wrestle for them this year therefore they are not in the rankings. The comments are directed at those who are insistent that everyone is big school bias, specifically the Chief. I am sure that Hoxie, a few years ago, would have placed a few very high in the rankings, but not this year. At this point in time the bigger schools have the majority of studs and therefore they are getting ranked accordingly. Maybe this will fire up the little guys!
