I have been making my case for Garden City being the TOUGHEST tournament in Kansas and here is the supporting data! Derby has passed and Newton is this weekend but neither of them sport a bracket like this one:
130lbs
Louis Trujillio (3x NM HS SC, NHSCA FR & SO National Champ, '08 Fargo Cadet National Champ, RTOC 2nd), Dan Frank 105-19 HS record, 2X CO SC, Trent Cox 2x KS SC, Ryne Cokeley (’08 4A SC, ’08 USA Nationals Folkstyle 3rd, Freestyle 2nd, Greco 3rd) Jace Bennett #8 TX, Derek Schnittker #4 KS 4A, Braxton Medina #5 6A, Victor Cruz #3 5A KS., Sean Mahaney #5 4A CO, Mike Jaquess #6 4A CO, Alex Hinejosa #13 4A CO, Nick Schwager #5 5A KS, Chase Sanchez #5 5A .. Find a tougher bracket in any other Kansas hosted tournament!
When the dust settles there will be no argument, 15 ranked teams and a bunch of ranked individuals make this, hands down, the TOUGHEST KANSAS HOSTED tournament in 2009.
I will work up the other weights as well but when you invite 10 out of state teams including three number 1’s, a number 2 and a handful of others that are ranked and throw them in with Kansas’ #1 5A team you are going to have some super brackets. I can’t wait!
