Taylor will be at 112 for Regionals. He went 119 at Derby because of the quality of the bracket. (Also, he got 4th and not 3rd losing to Davis 3-2.) Bobcat will have Ruiz and Callahan at 112, so will definetly be 112 for it. Possibly 119 at Holton where Gentzler will be. He wants to be in the bracket that will improve his wrestling, win or lose, but 112 will be the finishing weight.

(He and Kenny have NOT wrestled this year.)

Eric, I respectfully disagree. The reason I have commented so much on your current ranking of St. James as 9th ranked team in Kansas is that it is misleading to the young kids who are reading this topic. I know that a lot of them read this topic of your All Class Rankings and they tend to take them as gospel and not just your opinion. And that is all these rankings are they are just one man's opinion. You may be just presenting a picture of how your All Star invitational tournment would turn out based on your different scoring system for a tournament but that is not how many people are viewing it. They are really viewing it as these are the current best teams in Kansas. I am just pointing out that this is an incorrect way to view these rankings and to realize in looking at these rankings these are not official but only Eric Johnson's opinion.

Morning Vince,

No need to apologize to SJA. I have not heard that anyone was offended. Most of those involved have understood my team ranking criteria. I do plan to change the team rankings to reflect a different scenario than the Grand State format. To restate a point, your JOCO and Derby analogies are irrelevant. In a Grand State format, the 9th place team would likely score about 40 team points. With SJA having two finalists, that is where they land. I have been very clear about how my scoring method is different from a local tournament event. The discussion has been great but we have to get past the misunderstanding that the scoring is incorrect.

Team standing corrections are coming. Those rankings will not be representative of a Grand State tournament.

Moeder is a great wrestler and certainly worthy of the 2 spot, but I would think you would have to give Ornelas the edge by virtue of his head to head victory at state last year in their only meeting as far as I am aware.

You can rank wrestlers and teams all you want but until there is a Grand State to determine the truth then it will always be a just a "ranking"... Also I would question the criteria for the rankings because I guarantee 321a would get more then 6 medals out of 52 places. This is based on placing just the top 4 placers in each weight class. Also 321a would have more then "zero" Grand Champions..

they only shot 321a would have of not having "zero" grand champions would be at 130 and 40. i have never seen madl wrestle so if zahorsky indeed wreslted him in a finals matchup i couldnt predict the outcome. although i have seen all the of the top competitors at 30 wrestle and rogers would have his hands full with cokeley and especially cox. that kid is SOLID!!

We should see Zahorsky and Madl this weekend! 321A would have a real shot at 140, 145, 215 and possibly 130. No slight on 321A here.

it would be interesting to see if spangler has what it takes to go the distance with means. i apologize for over looking 321a's 215 pounder.

Fyi- If the report is correct Hewitt of Beloit just beat Keiswetter of Norton in the finals of the Norton tourney last week 4-3.

321A would not have any grand state champs!

130 would definitely go to either 4a or 6a.

145 goes to 6a

Don't know Madl or Zahorsky to tell, but Blair and Dozier are tough.

6a or 4a would be tough to bet against in 215.

That foursome at 140 would be very tough! You can throw Linwood Peoples in there too. He had an amazing match with Madl last night, losing 5-4 in the last 8 seconds.

Just curious why @ 152 Curtis is ranked above Sutherland when Sutherland placed 4th @ 152 last year and Curtis placed 4th @ 145?

Don't worry about it too much, they will get a chance to settle it at Newton this weekend!
