The track wrestling system wont put 2 A rated wrestlers on same side of bracket if there are only 2 A rated. If there are 3 or more it seperates kids from same team & looks at a few other thing to seprate wrestlers. The track wrestling system cannot tell if people are not honest about the ratings. The problem may have been that somone that had B or C rated wrestler rated them an A. Maybe that the coaches-parents-wrestler wanted in A bracket so they rated him A when he was a B or C. All of these Errors are blamed on track wrestling & the problem is the info that is put in system. This is the reason brackets are never perfect.

My suggestion for any club using Trackwrestling is that they call Manhattan and see how they did it.
They had complete and accurate brackets bright and early at the Sat morning weigh-in. I suspect they had them Friday night. They posted a few new brackets in different colored paper for those that had changed. No bracketing after weigh-in, no starting 1.5 hours late, no anxiety about keeping your son warm because the start time has come and gone and you don't know if he is match no. 1 and they are going to start at any moment.
Derby also did a nice job and could help clubs be a success.

I admit that we did have one major snafu on Saturday morning that, hopefully, we learned from and will be changing our process because of this. Basically we had a high schooler running one of our weigh-in scales who wasn't checking kids off on the weigh-in sheet. The kid was new to the sport and not very familiar with the process. This caused several unnecessary scratches in the 10U brackets, most notably 10U Novice 70 lbs where it really got interesting. several kids were scratched that should not have been and I combined the 2 brackets into one 8 man bracket. figured out the mistake after we started wrestling and a couple of the bouts in that bracket had already wrestled. Once I saw this mistake, I stopped that mat from wrestling to try to figure out the best way to fix the issue. This was a learning experience and because of it, we have changed our process for the future.

One question that you computer geeks can answer for me. Is there a way on trackwrestling to "save" a kids' info so that when you type in his name, so that his USA card number, birth date, etc pops up so I don't have to pull my file out every tourney to reenter that same info? Would be a time saver for coaches entering kids, but not a huge deal.
Thanks Doug

I aint no computer geek but I can answer your question. Go to trackwrestling prereg its on home page. There you can regester all wrestlers with your club. When you enter in a tournament all you have to do is put a check mark beside the wrestlers attending. You can change weights easy if need be. Once your wrestlers are regesterd you can pull up the list any time.

I'm back already. So am I going to have to have each kids' trackwrestling number handy when I sign them up, or is it going to be just entering their name and the other info will pop up?

Your wrestlers will be assigned a TW number when you regester them, you dont need to enter that number but it is one way to pull up a wrestler.

the other info will fill in automatically if you are registering them for a tournament. make sure to select the proper club. it auto defaults to the first one in the list.

I found out that I had to go and edit some of our wrestlers' info, that had used trackwrestling to register back in Freestyle season. It had them under their FR Greco club names. Had to request their passwords, then login to each one and edit.
I'll find out if it helped me next tourney I enter that uses trackwrestling!! Thanks

create an account under the pre-registration and then add your wrestlers. You can search by team name, TW number, name, etc. Once you get them added to your account, they are always there. Whan you register for a tournament, log back into your account and put a check next to your wrestlers name. The more info you can add to their individual account, the more info will auto populate while you are registering.

on the mobile site is there a way to narrow down the list of tournament options. When i go into it, there are about 400 tournament options to scroll through. Yes this is possible. I learned this trick last year at Subs; before I actually used the program. goto the trackwrestling mobile site on your web-enabled phone to the following url. http://www.trackwrestling.com/tw/mobile goto "event tools" then pull up the tournament, once there you can goto "Team bout schedule" select your team and pull up the first bouts that are scheduled for each of your kids on your team. You can also go here on your computer (the font is a bit small but still works the same)

I've used the trackwrestling "autofill" feature for several tourneys now, and it is sure nice!! After you enter all of your kids' info onto trackwrestling, including names, birthdate, team, USA card number, etc, you print off a list of all of your wrestlers, and it has a trackwrestling number for each kid. Keep that list handy, and everytime you "add wrestler" for a tourney, just enter that number at the top, tab to the next line and the other info pops up automatically, so all you have to do is click on the correct weight, as his age group comes up automatically as well. Definitely a timesaver.

We had 357 kids at our tournament this weekend and started out w/ just two people on the computers. I quickly snagged a couple more and everything seemed to go pretty smooth.
We had 3 people entering bouts, and one person staying on top of printing bout sheets. 1/2 the time, the 3 people entering bout sheets were waiting on bout sheet runners to bring them updated bouts, but once someone brought 10-20 bouts to get updated, they were able to get them knocked out which allowed me to print more bouts to be delivered to the tables.
Also, spread out, because there is a lot of paper floating around. Once bouts are entered, stack your completed bouts by age group. Several times I couldn't print new bout sheets because I was waiting on results from a prior round. But you can tell on the screen that that bout was already wrestled. Someone would go over to the stack, quickly find it, and get it entered. Once that particular bout was entered, I would then be able to print 12-14 new bout sheets which keept me ahead of the mat.
Remote weigh-ins were awesome. We only weighed in 40 kids Friday night, and probably another 60 kids Saturday morning. Nobody challenged another wrestlers weight. And I didn't here anyone complain about a kid looking heavy. I was hoping that we wouldn't.
Now that our tournament is over, I have to share a screw up we made. Saturday morning we had a quick coaches meeting. I handed each club a roster and had them double check to make sure everything was entered correctly, and advise me if there were any scratches. I had a few clubs that didn't show up, so I just went with what we had and if they had a kid that didn't show, we scratched them at the table. Out of all the teams who came, the only club that had a problem with their roster was................(((((PRATT))))). I scratched a kid Thursday because his Great Grandmother passed away, then Friday nght he showed up to weigh in. I FORGOT TO ADD HIM BACK INTO THE TOURNAMENT. I created brackets, numbered the brackets, and printed them only to find out about 5-10 minutes before the start of the tournament that he was left out. I FREAKED OUT!!!!....Any way, we got started about 9:30 I think. I can sit back now and laugh at myself, but Saturday I was not happy. I guess the point I'm trying to make is........double check your own roster. I didn't!!!
