Does anybody know if they let you change weight classes at sub districts? If so, how much does it cost to do this?

You can only change weights BEFORE the seeding meeting for subs to my understanding.
Well you're just a special kind of stupid aren't you?

I have a question then, why did one of the 10U 150 in Dodge City Subs change to 10U 170 today after they were listed all week as 150lbs. I think it is kind of late in the game to say this was a typo and not make an annoucement. No changes after seeding meeting correct. Also it appears the wrestler gained 24lbs since last weekend as they were listed 146lbs at Park City and now are listed 170lbs for Subs. Something is fishy.
Fill me in, Troy
My next question is going to be how to protest this apparent last minute change?

No changes after seeding meeting correct. The rule is: PART B – QUALIFYING FOLKSTYLE TOURNAMENTS SEEDING MEETINGS - Each district will establish a deadline, 10 days prior to the sub-district tournament after which no additional entries may be made. At the seeding meeting, weight or age corrections or scratches may be made in all age groups, including walk-on wrestlers, prior to the start of seeding the wrestlers. Once the seeding starts, no changes, or additions will be allowed except in the case of clerical errors by the tournament director. (Emphasis Added)

I agree with you about the 10u 150 changing to 10u 170. I would also like to know how to protest this last minute change.

Some tournaments don't list exact weight when using Track Wrestling. They list the weight of the class the wrestler is in as long as they make weight. That is an educated guess on my part, but I am pretty sure that this is the case.

The kid in the Dodge Sub was moved during the seeding meeting. It was announced during seedings they just forget to move him. All clubs at the seeding meeting were aware of the change.

Then why was he listed and seeded with 150lbs all week. This in my opinion is not a clerical error but a result of later judgement from last weekend.
I still want this investigated. There is also the issue of not having an actual weight listed and not being heavy enough to wrestle in 170U class. You still have to weigh over 150lbs to wrestle up in that class as there are too many kids right at 170lbs. Note that every other subdistrict that posted weight was able to post actual weights for their wrestlers, so this omission to me speaks volumes. Your going to have a hard time telling me that actual weights were recorded after the fact.
Our club will be making calls this week to protest this with state directors. There were people who moved kids around like this a few years ago and it got the kids DQ'd. Our Dist. Director said that if something like this has happened then they will get caught.
Thanks, Troy

Even though my memory isn't what it once was, ....... The change was made prior to us seeding the brackets. Obviously, the change wasn't made in TW when it should have, but the reason it wasn't caught was because the kid was in a RR and we didn't actually look at the RR brackets during the seeding meeting. Every team representative at the seeding meeting was made aware of the change last Sunday.

I can't believe you would want a wrestler to be DQ from the State Championship series due to an error made by the people running track wrestling for this subs. His coaches followed all the proper channels to move this kid and they simply forgot to move him in the computer. What happened to it being about the kids.

I cant believe you want a wrestler to change weight brackets at a State Championship because he is scared to wrestle the kid from Newton in his own 150lbs weight bracket. Last week-end at the Wichita classics he lost to the Newton kid and he weighted in at 146.1. What did happened to it being about the kids?

I have nothing to do with this wrestler or the club he wrestles with but I was at the seeding meeting so I know the weight change was handled the correct way according to the rules. I have no clue what this kid weighs but I don't think he should be punished for something that was clearly a clerical mistake.

Who cares why the kid changed weight classes as long as they made they changes at the seeding meeting , it happens all the time. Why are you so concerned about his weight? If he weighs 148 and wrestles 170 I doubt it would give him any advantage. If you are concerned about it being for the kids, maybe the kid thought he had a better shot at a state title at that weight. "cookin" I would be interested to know what your motivation is for being so concerned about this?
