No changes were made on the bracket or bout sheets. Scratch was discovered when 3 n 2 seed match # came up. 3 seed checked in and was given his leg band. #2 seed never showed. 4 seed wrestled 3 times and finished third. 3 seed wrestled once and finished second!!!! This was potentially costly to the 4 seed as he was denied the chance to finish second and thus receive a bye at districts. North only had two wrestlers at this weight See that is the problem with this rule as currently written. According to the rule and it's current interpretation the bouts should have been re-bracketed to a round-robin REGARDLESS of when the drop to four wrestlers was discovered, period. That is why the rule should read 'when bracketed' or 'when seeding takes place' etc. As I see it, the bracket was still wrestled incorrectly per our Constitution and By-laws. I still question if the wrestler who scratched, weighed-in in the first place.

I thought you said we didn't need to add any language, everyone would just do the right thing?

We don't but if it's going to be reworked or amended that is how it should read. I am still in favor of leaving it alone and doing what is already within the rules. More rules in many cases only serve to further complicate matters. I am of a firm belief that when that particular section of the rules was written it had no intent of a bracket ever being reworked after seeding. BUT, it has now come to mean that anytime the number of wrestlers falls below 5 the bracket has to be rebracketed. SOOOOO, I say as some of you have said, let Trackwrestling rebracket all the brackets when that kid who weighed in, but for whatever reason, doesn't show for his first match of the day! That should only set the start of the tournament back about an hour at the least?

are you sure you were a basketball player? you can circle and stall better than alot of wrestlers. which is it are you for rebracketing/ against rebracketing, for the kids/ against the kids, in love with will/ hate will? i don't see the complication, 5 wrestlers or less= round robin. instead of trying to tell charlie not to wrestle, teach him how to jump to one side of the fence or the other before he breaks his ankle, for cryin out loud.

That should only set the start of the tournament back about an hour at the least? When you use trackwrestling it takes very little time to rebracket. The delays are usually because of inadequate printer capabilities. This rule is needed to make a gray area into a black and white one. It is clear that a majority of the members agree that when there are 5 or fewer wrestlers a round robin bracket should ALWAYS be used! Sport0, if you haven't run a tournament with trackwrestling you have no business casting stones at it. It is a change that is favorable and a great improvement to the sport.
