This was potentially costly to the 4 seed as he was denied the chance to finish second and thus receive a bye at districts.
I totally agree that this should have been changed to a RR bracket. The one thing that I do not agree with, and I have never liked, is getting a bye in a tournament. In my mind, getting a bye is never a good thing. I would rather have my son, or any wrestler in our club, wrestle a match than get a bye.
