The Takedown Tournament was not cancelled, and started as planned. Unfortunately, nearly half of those who signed up to wrestle did not check in, making it a smaller than expected tournament. The Takedown Tournament was started last year due to dwindling numbers of Freestyle and Greco competitors for the Sunday event in previous years. It has been an experiment, and those who came to wrestle were there for the love and enjoyment of the sport. I think that both tournaments were improved, and ran very smoothly. Any comments or suggestions on further improving the tournaments are welcome, including whether or not a Sunday event is warranted, or having the Takedown portion later on Saturday, after the Folkstyle is concluded. The Folkstyle ran about 6.5 hours, and the Takedown about 2.5. A big thanks to all who came, wrestled, supported, watched, worked and cheered!
