This is an excellent chance for KS kids to see some national competition at the begining of the season without traveling to Ok, TX, or CO.
hahahahaha! this is quite laughable.
What is really laughable is someone lobbying against a Kansas tournament especially with the economy the way it is. Can't afford the kickoff this year but would love the opportunity for my kids to see some fresh faces from different states that have skill. See, didn't call it a national tournament did I? Kind of implied it though.

ummm, never lobbied against the tournament...just pointed out some things, that actually, you pointed out as well.
with the economy the way it is, what makes anyone think that people from other states are going to come here to yet another "national" tournament, when there's already one in their backyard? Just like I said before, it'll just turn into a large local tournament, just like Wichita classics has become. Don't take part of what I wrote and misconstrue the point.
here's a "short" list of what I can think of, off the top of my head, for national tournaments that are offered:
tulsa nats
Cliff Keen kickoff
Reno worlds
Rocky Mntn nationals
Big horn nationals
panhandle nats
cotton bowl classic
CA world challenge
IL Winter classic
Dixie nats
USJOC
Indy nats
Liberty nats
folkstyle tour of america events
ohio TOC
Brute nats
Not to mention the actual USAW national events.
That's ridiculous. Period.
I'm all for Kansas events, believe me, I've tried to pull off a few in my day. What I'm against is calling what is basically a local tournament a "national" just because someone says so. 80% Kansas kids, 15% OK kids and 5% elsewhere kids, in a Wichita arena does not constitute a national tournament in my opinion, and that's what a preseason Kansas national will be if its at the end of November.
My personal opinions aside, I still wish good luck to the organizers and promoters in trying to get this event off the ground and making it stick around.
