In 1979 they split 5A into 5A and 6A. In 1973 they split 5A and 4A.

130-1965 ONE state tournament
1966-1970 TWO state tournaments
1971-1972 THREE state tournaments
1973-to present FOUR state tournaments

1975 and 1976 KSHSAA sponsored or sanctioned an ALL CLASS or Grand State for wrestling.

1981 and 1982 a private group sponsored an ALL CLASS tournament called The Sunflower Classic. It was not attended by all qualifying wrestlers.
