True, but not stalling doesn't come with a warning. When do you get your explanation as to why he is not calling stalling on the other wrestler? Also, they do not stop the match when they give the stalling warning to give any explanation. Just a fist in the air.

Research our relationship. He has been Donkey Wrestler for almost two years now. It is a term of endearment. Nickname if you will. Lighten up, it is just a talk forum, not a court of law.

Windy,

I have a clear rationale when I call it. Red is not shooting and green has shot. Red is avoiding contact, green is not coming off a parallel ride, red is clinching and not attacking, green has his down. It has to be more black and white than you describe or your are clearly putting the match in the officials hands not in the wrestlers. It has to be called both ways too. I don't buy "I just felt green was stalling."

By the way, you stop action when stalling is called on the top or offensive wrestler unless both wrestlers are on their feet.

Willie,
I understand well all of the ways you can stall. When it's called, I always understand why the stalling was called. Judgement comes into play in how long you can ride the hips, or take to set up a shot, or clinch or spiral ride. It's not 6 minutes of continual shots.

Regardless, this is not a thread about stalling. It's about Kansas Officials and has morphed into judgement calls. Stalling is one example and I used it as a point that in some cases, officiating comes down to one neutral person's judgement. It is not the coaches' judgement that matters, as they are looking at the match with a biased perspective. Clearly mistakes are made, but you can't have biased coaches making judgement calls. The most vocal and intimidating coach shouldn't control the match. It is up to the system to weed out officials who too often have bad judgement.

Like Beeson, I have very rarely seen officials hide behind the "my judgement" excuse. And I have never seen a youth coach penalized for properly questioning an official's judgement.

IMO, most referees do a pretty good job, and poor officiating rarely (although occasionally) determines the outcome of a match.

If we want truly want good officials, we need to collectively be less of a PITA to them and learn to live and let live a little. Fewer and fewer people are willing to put up with the headache in all sports, not just wrestling.

BTW The argument that they are paid does not work with me. We are all paid to do our jobs, it does not entitle people to come into our place of work and yell and swear at us. I wouldn't stand for it and neither would you. They shouldn't either.

You say you can question the referee's judgement when a warning for stalling is given. I say that is true in certain circumstances as explained by Will.

On the other hand, if you think he should be calling stalling but isn't, there is no such warning and thus no opportunity to question his judgement. You can only sit there and say "He's stalling". "He's stalling." "He's got to use that." "He's backing up" "That's stalling." "Make him wrestle" "Come on ref, this is getting ridiculous" "You must be blind" "You son of a motherless goat"

you're good until you say ridiculous. you can call the ref over to the table during at match stopage. i am a coach and a ref, and see it both ways. i haven't had alot of compaints during the matches i ref. when i am a coach: i will treat the ref with the same respect that i expect, and the same when i am the ref.

What's the current supply of kids' officials? Are there enough to cover the dates? Do new officials get thrown into action right away or is there a break in period. I did one kid's tournament my first year as an official many years ago and it was so unpleasant that I haven't done another, but from the discussion going on here, it sounds like it might be fun to get back into it now that I have a clearer understanding of the difference between misconduct and unsportsmanlike.
