I just wanted to say very well done on a great day of wrestling.
This was in my opinion the best that this tournament has ever ran. Forget the bag checks and the hospitality room issue and all the other minor things, none of it holds a candle to the awesome wrestling that took place there today.
I would like to congratulate Team Haysville on a great showing! We took 8 kids and placed 7 of them. Six of them placed IN THE TOP THREE the other took 5th with our 8th only missing it by one round. Two 1st places Brycen Schroeder and Allen Tracy Two 2nd places Jackson Hartley and Parker Hartley Two 3rd places Spencer Tracy and Zach Bowen One 5th Place Easton Schroeder
Last but not least Team Haysville would like to wish Clayton Duivenvoorden from Bishop Carroll a speedy recovery from his injury in Salina today! Get well soon! State is just around the corner!

The tournament did run great. the Salina Club did a great job. The consecession stands closing at 5:00 with wrestling still going on and not being able to bring in drinks for our wrestlers was insane. The Bi-center needs to work with the salina club more. I know they want to make money but come on. Our wrestlers still wanted food and drinks after 5:00. The bag issue and not being able to keep our bag inside the common area.
To the Salina Club... Great Job, great competitiom all around, every ran great, Most of the Refs were good. We'll be back next year even with the Bi-center making your jobs harder.

Kent - hope all is well with you guys sure did miss you yesterday! Jordan's bracket ended like this: 1st Boo Dryden 2nd Mason Turner 3rd Jake Beeson 4th Kesean DeShazer 5th Tanner Hitchcock 6th Cody Phipen
Talk about some AWESOME wrestling!! It was unbelievable - Jordan's bracket was full of 3-2, 2-1 and a ton of sudden death matches. Just like everyone thought it would be. Jordan was so close! Lost 1-0 to Hitchcock in the round to see who got to wrestle for 3rd/4th or 5th/6th. Heartbreaker!! It was one fantastic day of wrestling!

By looks of this post, I take it Newton beat Hartley in 8 under 80 finals. I was looking foward to watching that all day but my son was on another mat about the same time and just forgot about it for a while. Anyone know the score?

These two are alot closer matched then the final score yesterday and I am sure they will have some exciting matches in the near future. How did Kade's match come out in the finals?

Wow what I say. Salina you did well. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the 10U61 and 52. Them were sum matches eh. LOL I also thought that the youngsters wrestled well. I keep watching kael pappan and think "Stud". My son wrestled his heart out and got 2nd in his bracket and I was pleased. Does anyone know how 6U 52 lbs. worked out?
Thanks, Steve Schroeder
Enjoy our kids while we have them. That has been and will always be my motto.

I just want to say Great Tournement!!!! There was great competition there and even with the tough brackets there was a lot of great sportsmanship. There was a coach from Ark City in the corner of the 61# wrestler Beeson. It may of been his father I dnt know but after EVERY match he went over and shook the other coaches hand first.
You just dont see alot of that these days! I thought it was very cool!

I have to say that this was a great experience for my son and I. It was our first time at the Salina Tournament of Champions and we had a great time. Last year was supposed to be our first, but my son was sick the entire week leading up to the event and couldn't practice so I pulled him from the tournament. It was the first year that I felt he was ready to compete at a tournament of this caliber.
After he finished his last match, we watched one of his teammates wrestle one more match and decided to head home. He had competed extremely well and came within two points of finishing in the top six in a very tough sixteen man bracket. I told him that we should get a tournament t-shirt since it was his first time there. He then told me it would be his only time that he would wrestle at this tournament. It just then dawned on me that he would be entering High School next year, and in fact, he would not be at this tournament again.
For those of you that are wondering whether or not your wrestler is ready for this tournament, they probably are. What I mean by that is, don't wonder too long, or they may never get to experience this great event.
