And that song had nothing to do with Locks of Love, or anything else to do with this post.

What is the official rule for hair length in kids wrestling, there should be no gray area.I m from the old school,I ve seen a many block hair cuts to get within compliance, back n the day.......As far growing hair for very worthy causes is very honerable and just, does this change our hair length rules??Maybe the kids could grow the hair n the off season....We had some kids do this during football.....no rules 4 hair there....

I cant believe that Some one from the Mullet Capitol of Kansas is complaining about Long Hair.

I am trying to figure out your math. I am 29 and been a member since 2004. It is 2010 now. So thats 6 years right. So that means at 23 I became a member.

Do you have Kids in Ark City going to High School at 23 years of age?

The LONG HAIR part was what I was referring to. You know since this is a topic about Long Hair. Its not rocket science
but if you cant figure out that 6 years ago I would not have been in High school I can see how you would miss the LONG HAIR PART!!!! Its ok ill cut you some slack to.

The song had nothing to do with this situation. It also spoke of getting stoned in the morning and drunk in the afternoon, also things I don't want my child to do. You can spend your day doing so if you would like and from most of your posts you probably do.

The song was ment to get people to worry about there own problems, and stop judging other people. Just like you did.

Instead of crying about long hair why not go to you tube a learn a new move you can show your son tonight after school.

I have a ten year old and I too do not want her to do drugs or drink, i also do not want her to judge people that do. I am growing my hair out to donate to show my child that it is good to help people in need. You should try helping out too.

This topic is not about children with cancer. This topic is about following the rules concerning hair length on the wrestling mat. Just when I don't think you can make a more ignorant post, you do. I can't tell if your doing it on purpose, just to play devil's advocate, or you are really that far out there. Either way, everyone else is tired of reading our posts. PM me if you want to continue this discussion.

Boy, these posts can get out of hand in a hurry, can't they? I saw a couple of young men yesterday at Silver Lake who had very long hair. Both young men had their hair pulled back and braided. I didn't get to see them wrestle so I don't know what happened when they were on the mat but it looked like they were making every attempt to make their hair length NOT an issue.
There are rules in place for a reason. They should be followed. If ANYONE with long hair chooses not to cover it then they are going to have to accept the consequences that go along with it while wrestling. If it gets caught up and yanked out it is the wrestler who doesn't cover it up's fault... not the wrestler who yanked it out.
I get tired of these pointless... I've got to be right... arguments. (and just for the record... Jesus made many sacrifices - I think he'd wear a covering over his long hair without complaining about it!)

Lucas,

I think you should open a window and let some air in. It's possible that you are dealing with a gas leak.

Beeson is correct here.

Either get a haircut or get a cover and maybe wrestle in the Haysville Tourmment (they've added a girls division I see).

Either that, or get some tatoos and pick up a guitar!

Oooorrr, maybe in this era of touchy feely hope (or hoax) and change, Beeson should be more sensitive. lol.

I don't really care if they have a hair rule or not, as long as it is equally enforced. My son was told he had to have a beanie on or he couldn't wrestle his match. The boy he was about to wrestle had longer hair, he just had his head gear on so that it was off his face. The match before and after, all four boys had MUCH longer hair AND it was in their faces! We were all very confused. Problem was, it was the head ref relieving for breaks and he had just stepped on the mat to relieve our ref. Everytime he came in the gym, he seemed to have a problem with at least one of the boys on the mats, yet the rest of the refs never said anything to anyone! This sort of situation confuses a kid. Make a rile and stick to it and make EVERYONE follow it. This was in Ark City by the way.

I keep trying to convince my oldest to get the Brian Shute haircut. He says when he can carry logs up a set of bleachers he might.

Mighty's Mom,

Most of the time the head official is an older more experience official (hence they are the head), so they are more likely to catch minor infractions, shoes not taped, hair too long, etc. Not saying it's always the case but would fit your scenario. Be glad it was caught at Ark City not at Subs or Districts where it could have cost your son the season.

You guys have been very entertaining today. However, this is kind of following a familiar pattern - Beeson attacks Baker's knowledge or maturity and Baker responds with something in left field. But, I think a major point has been missed. Long hair can cover up skin conditions. We use to let our son keep his hair longer - but after getting impetigo on his forehead we try to keep his hair shorter. When you have a 10 year old boy who gets home from practice at 9 or later, showers are not always at their best. Any kid who bangs hard in matches and practice will have scratches on their foreheads and faces caused by the other kids headgear. If they have long bangs/hair, it is hard to find. This is a good rule and my daughter donated her hair once - not my boy - his hair will never get that long. Beeson is also right on parents should set the rules.

Not giving your child a shower after practice is pretty irresponsible, it is only another 10-15 minutes and stops your child from spreading skin infections to other children, it is that kind of thinking that stops kids from competeing because of a parent not wanting to take the time to give their child a shower.
