Four points to be used on weekday nights for a two team dual meet wouldn't impact academics. You DO NOT allow triple duals or quads so that the activity lasts approximately the same amount of time as practice. Parents only worry about showing up at 7 and leaving at 9 just like a basketball game. Students get time after school to study or work on their grades. As far as making weight, wrestle up a class for the dual if it is an issue or just stop cutting weight. Remember, I am a big advocate of matside weigh in. The problem with the current system is that there is NO WAY you can book enough dual team events to get 200 matches. The meets don't exist. Also, you might not wrestle the best individual in these. I hate to go here but lets talk about QUALITY MATCHES. For the top wrestlers who wrestle in state only , they will be lucky to get 10 good matches a year. Another problem is byes. Last year we went to Derby, a great tournament but we burned 4 points for three matches. I like the pool format with a draw into brackets. No one in a Kansas high school is wrestling too many high quality matches. The duals would go a long way towards boosting popularity for the NON wrestling fans. Heck, Doug747, would go watch two pigs fighting under a blanket but the average fan doesn't want to sit in a gym all day.
