Well since we are complaining about "Free Rides":
672 Free Rides to State in All Classes 252 Free Medals in All Classes 42 Free State Championships in All Classes
I believe my good friend is asking to have just ONE state tournament. There are: 896 Spots in the 4 state tournaments 336 Medals 56 State Champs

Beeson,
Normally I agree with everything you say. I might agree with this also, but I don't have any idea what you are talking about. Any clarification you might be able to give would be most appreciated. With a True State Tournament only 224 wrestlers would qualify for State. With FOUR Classes 896 qualified, meaning 672 got Free Rides. With a True State Tournament only 84 wrestlers would medal. With FOUR Classes 336 medalled, meaning 252 Free Medals were handed out. With a True State Tournament there would be 14 STATE CHAMPIONS. With FOUR Classes there were 56 State Champions, meaning 42 Free State Championships were handed out. Problem is we don't know which 14 actually deserve the Title of STATE CHAMPION. My point is, we quit complaining about how strong or weak each class is and accept the State Champions in each class or admit that none of the wrestlers accomplished anything this weekend. Yes Will, you are correct and probably stated it nicer than I did.

I can dig that.
Technically even if we only have one class, it's watered down with 14 weight classes. Thirteen get a free ride.
There can be only one. Just like Highlander.

There can be only one. Just like Highlander. There can be several, but whenever they meet they must wrestle. Until there is one.

No....I don't think there are any free rides. Even the kids with losing records in 5A and 6A managed to win some matches. 6A losing record kids had a record of 6-47 in their matches wrestled at state. And there was a kid at 119 who went 3-3 and placed 6th. In 5A, the kids with losing records were 15-88 in their state matches this year. I also noticed that Cole Luttig from McPherson had a losing record, but gave the state champion in his weight (Charbonneau) his closest match of the tournament - a 3 point match in the first round. That kid at 119 wrestles for Heights who has an extremely tough schedule. Additionally that kid would have been considered green so he would have had a high growth curve, higher than most. The kid at regionals was not the same kid that notched those losses throughout the year. And that kid beat out a state medalist so he sure didn't get no free pass or even an easy pass.

Are you saying that there are plenty of free rides in the rest of state tournaments? yes 5a 125 a kid with no wins 0-5 thats a free ride to state. There is a difference between Plenty and A free ride to State. Id tattoo Ark city on me if you can show me a 4a or 3a bracket that had a kid in state with 0 wins at 125lbs in the last 20 years. How can 8 of you big city schools not come up with more than four 125lbs?

you already have that tattoo poser! btw did you ever get that gas leak fixed. how many wins did you have at state lucas? Nice post man shows your age. I had 5 wins and one loss at state 4 of the 5 were pins took 3rd. I was on a back to back state championship team, and my college team won nationals. If that didnt help you size me up enough I am 6'2'315lb, I like long walks on the beach, pizza hut, and playing in the park. I would love to meet you and beeson in an old timers tourny this summer, to settle this issue you guys have with me old timer rules so leave your brass knuckles at home.

No worries you could not come up with the evidence to fulfill the bet anyway! 4a is a tuffer class to qualify for state than 5a. We would of had to go to wichita to get the tat. The shop at the south end of arkcity is booked for months with all the Joe Dirt portraits they keep putting on ArkCityans. And comeon they could tell from the way I dress im not from round there.

What tournament would you like to wrestle at? I'm only 5'11 and 185 lbs. I do not have the same High School or College credentials that you have, but hey, I'll give it a go. How about we up the offer? If I win, you cut your hair. If you win, I will grow mine out for a year and get a Joe Dirt tattoo. I am sure Derby would let us roll around on the mat before or after their open room tomorrow. Steve Herman is from Derby, I bet we could get him to officiate. My only request is that you wear a hair net.

Since you get such a weight advantage, I'm sure you would win. It is a sure bet so you should have no problem making the bet of cutting your hair. I will agree to you not wearing a hair net, if we can have this at the Derby open room in the next two weeks. It is starting to look like your not going to let me cash that check you wrote.
