I posted this back in January, and for those of you that didn't see it, here is a tremendous deal!
Try staying at the Hotel Girard, just twenty-five miles down beautiful I70 in cozy Lawrence Kansas. For just $39.95/night stay, you get the following amenities:
1) Lighted cul-de-sac parking (limited to the first ten arrivals), otherwise, neighborhood street parking (not lit);
2) Living room and basement sleeping areas that can accommodate up to fifty people comfortably, seventy-five people less comfortably (bring your own air mattress);
3) Zoo like atmosphere for the little ones (40-gallon fish tank loaded with all sorts of fish, two cockatiels that bite, four morning doves, two parakeets that bite, one chinchilla that bites, and one black lab that just lays there). For those with bird allergies, get here early to reserve a living room sleeping area;
4) Live entertainment - watch my wife yell at me for doing something stupid, watch my wife yell at our kids for doing something stupid, watch my wife yell for no reason at all;
5) Recreation available - basketball goal in cul-de-sac (no parking under the basket) and fully enclosed trampoline in the back yard (watch for the dog feces when going to and from the trampoline);
6) Gourmet breakfast - there is an IHOP less that a mile from the house;
7) Jacuzzi Hot Tub on premise - not for public use, but it is on premise.
I doubt any hotel in Topeka can give you as much bang for your buck!
Disclaimer: All reservations are non-refundable and subject to my son making it to State.
Looking forward to seeing you all in March.

Sorry rockytop, that would be logistically impossible. I am sure that my whole family will pack up for Topeka if my son is fortunate enough to be wrestling on that day.

It would be funny if people would start leting people stay at there homes.If you cut out a just a 100 or 200,the motels would sure know it and lower the price to normal.

I paid 115 for a hotel at park city & was in the lobby using the computer & heard them rent a room for 75 dollars for the following night because they were not full. My point is that hotels raise prices according to demand.

You paid $115.00 for a room up AT Park City or FOR Park City? None of those motels AT Park City would be worth half that. I'm guessing you were in Wichita?

That is still robbery. I think you should have shopped around. You could have very likely got the same quality for a much cheaper price anywhere in Wichita.

That is why you should have shopped around! You should expect to pay more to stay at the arena doorsteps. The thing about Wichita for those that are not from here is, you can be anywhere in the city (including Park City) within 15 minutes.

I got a room at Candlewood 120.00 a night. Not horrible? real nice rooms.
It sucks to have to pay for a room anywhere local tournament are always cheaper. We live 45 min from topeka and still stay in Topeka cause this is our Sping Vacation. Kids love to stay in hotels! We have a blast but its best if you reserve rooms as your leaving topeka for the next year. But if you don't make it the next year don't forget to cancel that sucks!
In the past if you wait til after this weekend. And alot of kids get beat out. And alot of clubs will call and cancel alot of resevations. The you can pick em up real cheap on priceline, Hotwire etc. It happens every year. Some Clubs reserve like a block of 30 rooms then cancel 20 of them the last minute. And it pisses the hotels off cause thier booked solid and turning people away for months then thier half full.
Jon Trowbridge Ive never had the fear of getting beat thats how most people lose.

I liked the hotel & the location & I was ok with 115 also. I think you misunderstood my post as a complaint sport0. I was not complaning just pointing out that hotel prices are just as high in dist 2. Nice clean hotel w pool 5 min from event. I personally would rather pay 30-40 more dollars than stay in a dump. Just for the record the 115 was the total price tax & all.

then why in topeka i stay at the exact same hotel in july and the room cost me a total of 85. coaches got to stay free. now in march it cost 105 and that if you pay for 2 nights. a Motel 6 in topeks over $80 a night...a motel 6. come on. that is absolutley price gouging period.

The same reason I paid 115 for a seventy dollar room in park city. Welcome to America. DEMAND CONTROLS PRICES COAST TO COAST. Its not just in topeka is my point.
