Also, the 103lb weight class..you might want to watch for Hunter Price, soph, at Holton. In the past he has wrestled Javier Vieyra and won (was during Kids Fed), Hunter has wrestled and beat Dakota Leach and been beat by him also..so I think he's in the mix. Hunter has wrestled and placed in the past at USJOC and Tulsa among other National tournaments...I look to see his name enter the top ten this year!
We are not sure yet where Drake will be wrestling...as far as weight..gotta get thru football season first! Vieyra pinned Hunter Price at Southern Plains. Was Hunter varsity for Holton last year? From what I remember, Hunter wrestled Varsity for Holton and had an exceptional record but did not make it to HS State. He did finish State Runner-Up at U14 100 to Zak Hensley from Frontenac after beating him in the finals at Districts in the Kids' season though and looked like a beast getting there.

One more thing Chief. Regarding that U14 D1 bracket last year, the four that made it to Kids' State finished in the top five at State. The two matches Garrett lost 0-2 and 0-3 were to multiple time Kids' State placers, and they went home too without a top four finish in the D1 District bracket. If Hunter is 103 this year, he will definitely make a lot of noise.

Bryce wrestled 103 jv and beat Dakota twice As Dan Gentzler stated, the biggest issue last year for Dakota was giving up 12 to 15 pounds to all the 103's. That will not be the case this year.

Javier Vieyra is #1 at 103 without a question, solid kid and keeps getting better! Chris Sullivan and John Risewick at 103?? They are great wrestlers, but will they be able to make 103 this year? If those two are not in the mix then who would be next?
Tim Prescott at 112 again!! wow watch out for a good finals run this year for the 5A state tital!! Just wondering, but what criteria do you have with Solis at 112?
Bryce Shoemaker at 119? i thought he wrestled 112 at Fargo?
Thanks a bunch!

I highly doubt that Charbonneau will be at 130. He wrestled 135 at Fargo this summer, but if he were to be at 130 what critera does Gentzler have over him. He has beat Gentzler every time they have wrestled including this summer.

A quick question on 125: Colby Watters beat Cody Beasly at kids state, and Bo Pursel beats Colby Watters every time they wrestle. Why would you put Beasly at #1 when Pursel clearly has every criteria over him?

Thanks a bunch! Prescott and Shoemaker are expected to go 112 and 119 by their coaches. Solis is making his last run after an injury. Many of us remember his exciting matches with Ruiz and other top competition. I wouldn't be surprised if he climbs the list. Sullivan was listed as possible at 103 and I have no info on Risewick's weight. Tyler Mies and Reese Cokeley are just outside the rankings at 103.

A quick question on 125: Colby Watters beat Cody Beasly at kids state, and Bo Pursel beats Colby Watters every time they wrestle. Why would you put Beasly at #1 when Pursel clearly has every criteria over him? Those top 4 are possibly the toughest at any weight. Pursel moving up two weights makes it harder to rank him above the 119 state champion senior. Kids state is always hard to figure vs. HS state. Watters had 8 losses albeit to elite competition in and out of state. He also almost beat Blaine Smith in the finals. Zach Hoehn will be a big 125 and is nails tough also. I originally had Pursel #1 and could argue for a 4 way tie at #1. With Pursel likely to move down to 119, I went with the heavier senior state champ. Pursel and Watters have only wrestled twice ever. Once in 7th grade and in the state finals two years ago. You can't hardly carry that criteria forever.

I'm trying to understand what criteria Chase Sanchez and Matt Reed have over Jake Hattabaugh. Hattabaugh beat two quality state champs last year (John Hambleton and Nick Thibault) and was undefeated until he got injured. Hattabaugh and Reed wrestled in 09 at the Bishop Carrol tournament and Hattabaugh won 12-5 also. Just wondering why he's not at least number 2 when he was number 1 All-Class all of last year until he got injured.

My guess:
Matt Reed is ranked higher because he went 15-0 at Cadet National Duals, and was a national runner-up in greco last summer.

As has been mentioned, Reed had great success in the fs/gr season. Many of his matches were at 189. That should translate into success at 160.

Ive heard Matt Reed is up around 190 so making it to 160 doesn't seem very likely. 189 is probably going to be his weight Not according to his coach. 160. Matt has never seen above 175 in his life. 160 is most probable... but you just never know. We have 3 quality wrestlers/State placers all around the same weight. After football, I will begin to worry about it..
