I am usually just an observer and like to read the forums. I just find alot his comments offensive. I wasn't really calling him out just commenting on his posts. However, he seems to be the guy that calls people out on every post he makes especially if it involves something with him or his kids. I am just saying promote the sport, be a fan, and do it with class.

Wrestlerwow, Id hate to read it if you really were calling him out. I know Mr. Cokeley can defend himself, but this post really irritates me. I am pretty sure that anyone who has witnessed Wills demeanor mat side would be able to attest to his passion for the sport. If you seriously think that Mr. Cokeley is not a selfless and tireless promoter of the sport of wrestling, then you in fact, know nothing of him or his contributions. Perhaps you should ask around and see what kind of personal sacrifices he has made in his time and monetary resources to open up opportunities for Kansas wrestlers. Maybe then, you can call him out.
p.s. Since when is it a bad thing to defend yourself, and more importantly, your kids. I dont even want to know the parent that doesnt!

Agreed. I was at a match last year that his son lost on a very close/controversial call. Will was not jumping up and down. He was not acting like an idiot. He composed himself in a gentleman-like fashion, in the midst of a very combustible situation/environment.

Secondly, as stated above - "he has made of his time and monetary resources to open up opportunities for Kansas wrestlers." Again, agreed!

Thank you Don King Cokeley. ;-)

Have a good break and maybe I'll see ya around the mat again this year.

Age, young or old, has no validity in how good an official is and should have no bearing on selection of officials for tournaments or post season. I know it has no bearing in college wrestling and other sports as the majority of officials are in their 40+ years in age. Keep in mind, just because a call may go against one of your kids or you get reprimanded for being to close to the mats, doesn't mean that official is bad. It just means that official is doing his job in enforcing the rules. My observation is that you look like one of those parents that like to complain to complain and that are living vicariously through your kids. Enjoy the sport. Be a fan, not a fanatic.

If you don't think we have an officiating issue stairing us in the face then you are part of the problem! The NCAA has an evaluation system that ensures that the best performing officials are on the mat. The KSHSAA system is nothing more than a good ole boy popularity contest. THere is no transition or succession plan. There is very little being done to educate and evaluate new or even existing officials. Here is the system: AD's are asked to recommend officials for post season. That is the extent. There is no grading or evaluating. Each area has a "go to" official who controls all of the assignments. There is a code of ethics that really doesn't allow for an official to critique a fellow official unless asked. That needs to be abolished! If you suck then you should be told so. If it is time to retire and you can't figure it out then someone needs to say "Thanks for all of your years of help and service but we need to start moving some new officials into the system." It is ludicrous that we see the exact same guys at the same tournaments year in and year out. I would bet that a majority of AD's haven't even seen some or most of the officials they recommend. The majority of officials at the state tournament are, ironically?, employees of a school system somewhere in our state. If we don't put young officials on the mat at these invitationals how are they to get experience? Do you seriously think men over 60 can interpret high level action on the mat and properly score it as well as a man who is 30? Maybe for one match but not over a 10 hour day. Just callling out the facts. Coaches are NOT going to jump on here and state the same thing as they are concerned about retaliation. If you don't think some of the officials will retaliate then you are very foolish. You have your right to an observation just like I do. The difference is that I am man enough to post my name on mine.

Of course if you do decide to post your name in opposition to Mr. Cokeley then one of the Cokeley minions will run an unauthorized background check on you and post that information to the board! Take your choice.

Paranoia causes you to hide your name. Unauthorized background checks? Take your hospital gown off Sportsfan. If anyone agrees with someone's position, does labeling them a minion marginalize that person? I suggest that the person that avoids dialog and reverts to personal attacks defines themselves as insecure.

cokeley has minions? neat.

this cokeley vs. sportsfan idea would make for a great comic book. picture it, cokeley the "evil" mastermind who has a plan to overthrow the kshaa and rule the world! whooohahaha! he adapts a style much like robin hood to "fool" the poor unsuspecting good people of the wrestling community.

sportsfan has vowed to use his power to stop the evil doers like cokeley and his minions. however sportsfan must keep his identity a secret as not to upset the fine people of the wrestling community. as he changes into his cape and superhero suit, donning simply SP02 on the chest.

but sportsfan has a huge challenge on his hands, as the "people" tend to side with cokeley. "they have obviously been blinded by his misguided generosity" sportsfan says to himself as he anticipates cokeley's next move.

WOW this is exciting......stay tuned wrestling fans, more to come. same wrestling blog, different drama everyday.

didn't you read the first volume??? he's hiding his secret identity so the evil minions don't expose his real identity, thus hindering Sportsfan's ability to save the wrestling community.
