Talking this weekend with aspen at Holton he was pretty sure he would be at 130 for state so I am not sure if he will be wrestling 125 at this dual.

So why did Aspen Kmiec, SH go 30 for holton and then go to 25? Im guessing he was running from Gentzler at 25 and now he ran from stokes at 30? Any ideas?

I don't think Kmiec was running from anything. It was a smart move for SH Heights. Instead of maybe losing them both, they ended up with plus 2 points. Wining by fall and losing by maj dec.

I am sure his coach and him discussed the issue and decided to do what is best for the team. It is not fair to leave a comment that attacks a wrestler with out giving evidence to support the claim and also not to identify oneself. These types of comments by cowards are getting real old on this forum. There are often many variables as to why a wrestler may switch weights at various times during a year, and those decisions are for the coach and wrestler alone.

It was a smart move. Berends gave up the fall (6 for them) and Richards only gave a major. So instead of Stokes possibly beating Kmiec and Berends possibly beating Richards, they gained more team points. Dont post about things you obviously dont understand.

The stokes/Kmiec rematch will have to be at state. No problem with that.
It was a good battle up and down the line up. GE won 8 matches. 3 by fall and the rest by major decision.
Some big wins were at 140 where Shireman stepped up a weight for Williams who is still out and wrestled tough for the major.
Long getting a major 9-0 over Willis after loosing 7-6 at Holton
Tough losses: Price was out wrestling Herl ahead 6-3 and then the "Snake" bit him.
Good loss: Stockton took Lockhart down and road him out in the first. In the third Lockhart tossed him twice but stockton didnt get pinned.
GE has now beaten Lansing, SH heights. Duals are not tournaments, but GE is showing some team strength.

I would just like to say, in regards to Kmiec running, how do you know that it didn't have to do with who had choice to go out first? The way I heard it was that they both weighed in at 125. It all could have been strategy. Berends wrestled tough but ended up getting pinned, but if he hadn't, GE ends up getting the better end of it. These are high school wrestlers, not pro athletes, and 9 times outta 10 are NOT making the decision who they do and don't wrestle in a dual. Just as I am positive that Stokes wanted a rematch, I am positive Kmiec would have had alot of confidence after beating him 8-3 at Holton. It angers me to hear people making those comments about kids being afraid, or ducking etc...especially when they are as high caliber as Stokes and Kmiec. The elite wrestlers want to wrestle the elite!
Now as for the dual last night, very hard fought match. You could tell there might have been some extra work done in the Blazers practice room defending the snake and the high flier. Very physical match on both sides of the mat. Awesome to be under a mat light and I will say it once again, duals bring out the true team aspect of this sport. Both benches and fans were very much into the meet. Very high energy in the gym. Props to the Heights fans for travelling so well.
