At 171 didnt Jake Delp of Clay Center beat Jordon Ward of Abilene during their dual last week? It's the 11 losses and losing to an 8-12 wrestler at Silver Lake that is keeping him out of the rankings.

What's keeping Blaine Hill and Tyler Henness from passing Ward?

Blaine lost to Ward early in the year but has really turned it on the last half. I will look at that.

Hey chief, just curious that at 145 guillen is ranked below Collins. Guillen defeated him pretty convincingly at chantute

Is Brent Koehn going to be thrown in the mix at 145? I know he will be ranked high in 5A.

Being ranked or not, I am just glad Brent is able to get back on the mat! It is a bummer to be injured and have to watch.

I know that Nick Collins, or the Augusta staff would not make excuses, but Nick was sick when he wrestled Guillen.

So I take it you aren't on the Augusta staff Doug? Because that does sound like an excuse. Bryant wrestled a great match! Nick was a nice kid and I wish him well.

I am not from augusta but I do have some people that I know from Augusta. I'm not making excuses, but rather helping the above poster understand why Collins is ranked above Guillen. Collins only 3 other losses are in OT to the number one ranked AC kid at 145, Alex Bontz. Nothing against Guillen, been to several Dual events with him, and he is a good kid also. But the body of work, as Chief always puts it, puts Collins above Guillen.

Bryant's "body of work" is that he 17-2 at 145. That includes a win and a loss against Graves, a win against Collins, and a loss to the same Haynes that beat Levi. And yes it was by 1 point also. I have no excuses nor does Bryant. He has lost every match that they say he has. There wasn't a full moon or planets aligned or west mile or anything else. When he loses it's usually because he didn't wrestle well enough to win. I watched the Collins-Guillen first hand and so this is not second hand info. Bryant wrestled a great match. Just like I said in my first post. And yes Doug I know you are from Andale, that was sarcasm. I'm not going to post on any matches that I didn't watch first hand.

I can comment on kids that i've seen wrestle though. I do agree that Guillen's style probably clashes with Collins' style, but I don't see him ever beating Collins by 6 points when both are healthy.

I am probably embarassing Collins by arguing with you, so I'll leave it at that.........I probably should have done this via private message so that Collins wasn't embarassed by it, or Bryant PO'd by it. Bryant can take it out on me at Cadet duals this year.............

You are probably right. Bryant probably got lucky. It would never happen again. What would I know, I just watched the match. I'm sure it has way more to do with the "styles" matchup that you talk about. In no way could it have anything to do with all of Bryant's hard work. The one thing that you are completely accurate about is that I'm a firm believer in bulletin board material. Thanks for the ammo. Good luck to Levi the rest of the way. Can't wait to see how state brackets look and where the chips fall. It's my favorite time of year.

Bryant is my kid Doug. When people start talking about excuses for what he has achieved, it's personal. Never once have I said a bad word about your son. You know his losses and his victories, just as every Dad on here does, but when you belittle Bryant's work its not a good thing. Next time, spend your energy on talking about how talented Collins is and it would go over better. You don't have to put people down to step over them.

Where did I put Bryant down? I'll help you by posting my comments on this subject. Someone else posted asking about the ranking of Guillen and Collins. In hindsight, I should have private messaged that person to give them some insight as to why the rankings may be as they are. But I am not going to sit here and let you make it sound like I am hammering away at Bryant. If it makes you feel better, here is my take on the 145 lb all class rankings: Bontz and Collins are the two best, and you can throw the rest in a hat and draw them out, and you'll get just as close as Chief has them ranked. It obviously won't make you feel better, so let's go this way. Bryant should be ranked number one because it took overtime for Bontz to beat Collins, and Bryant beat him by 6 points, kicked his a$$, dominated him, overwhelmed him, and pretty much mopped the mat up with him. There, you've used you imagination to twist my words, I'll use mine to twist yours...........
My posts:
1-I know that Nick Collins, or the Augusta staff would not make excuses, but Nick was sick when he wrestled Guillen.
2-I can comment on kids that i've seen wrestle though. I do agree that Guillen's style probably clashes with Collins' style, but I don't see him ever beating Collins by 6 points when both are healthy.
3-I am probably embarassing Collins by arguing with you, so I'll leave it at that.........I probably should have done this via private message so that Collins wasn't embarassed by it, or Bryant PO'd by it. Bryant can take it out on me at Cadet duals this year.............
4-I am not from augusta but I do have some people that I know from Augusta. I'm not making excuses, but rather helping the above poster understand why Collins is ranked above Guillen. Since ranked being #6 on the #171 all class list, Brendan Delancy-AUG has not lost a single match, and in fact, he has pinned almost all of his opponents. He has come in first at the Chanute tournament, and first at the Rose Hill tournament, and is currently ranked #3 in 4a. Why is he not on the current all class list? it looks to me that he should be at least seventh. The only people he has lost to all season are Baird-PRT(#1 4a) and Penka(#1 5a), and those matches were very close and exciting matches that could have gone either way.Just my opinion, but I believe a valid one.
