The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association nominates a "Senior Wrestler of the Year" for the four classifications. Thanks Richard. Why do they not do a Kansas WOY from the 4 class WOYs---are do they think that is overkill!

I have no doubt Ryne is an excellent wrestler, but i am somewhat confused by some of your statements. Is Ryne the only senior wrestler who has senioritus or has to take ACT's or has college visits, and did it only snow there. If so he most definitely is deserving of this prestigious award. I wish Ryne the best of luck throughout regions and i wish him the best of luck to win his 4th.

There are many outstanding wrestlers that deserve consideration, however if the current wrestlers continue to win state 4A wrestler of the year is a hands down Moeder. He will have been something like 100-2 over his last matches with 3 state championships and one third place. He is one of the few Kansas Fargo Junior Champions in greco and all-american in freestyle- this year. He has beaten many nationally ranked kids and also has been dominant through out the season. He was one of the first seniors this year to sign with a D1 program and he has improved significantly every year. He moved up to beat Nichter last year and has improved every year. I do not know of any other 4A wrestler who comes even close with the above credentials.

The true wrestlers of the year are those kids in the consolation semi-finals of regionals- win and they go to state, loose and they go home. These are the kids on the cusp of taking that next step, they are the ones that truly make the Moeders and the Cokeleys of the world better wrestlers- they are the ones that might not get much recognition but as adults they can say "I qualified for state and it showed me what hard work can do"...

I completely agree with Anklepick, my opinion probably means nothing, but from the outside looking in, Moeder is a man amongst boys. He is the Alan Waters of Kansas. He completely dominates the best kids in Kansas. He is like a ranked D1 wrestler that has come back to wrestle high school. I also agree that he continues to improve each year significantly. You can tell by the scores of the matches, where he make our second best kids feel like maybe they forgot how to wrestle. There are other D1 prospects here, but none dominate in the same fashion, not even close. If Kansas has one kid that has the best chance of placing in the NCAA tourney their freshmen year, its hard to argue that it won't be Taylor Moeder.

Just to back up what I said earlier, Taylor beat the #5 all class wrestler, Aaron Puckett, by pin today in the finals.
