PRE-SEASON RANKINGS!

Wrestlers are ranked by their ANTICIPATED weights. As with any ranking system they are just my opinion, arrived at through MANY hours of research.

Many factors are considered (Not always in this order):

1. State bracket performance.
2. Performance at national folkstyle tournaments.
3. National FS/GR success.
4. Information from Coaches and Parents.
5. Competition that the wrestler has faced.


IMPORTANT:

The input must include criteria! Asking, "Why is this guy above that guy" or saying, "I can't believe you have that guy ranked" is not criteria. Just state your evidence and if found substantive, I will change it. Also remember that we are still many weeks away from the first whistle so a lot can change and surely will.

Instead of changing the rankings AS new information comes in, I plan to update them each Friday until the season starts.

Thanks for putting out your rankings....I think they help create the most interesting posting and observations on this forum.

What about the upper 3 weights? Are they still coming?

WOW Andale #1, didn't realize they had as much coming back as they do! The other thing that caught my eye would be 5A 120, looks like a tough wieght! All the ranked wrestlers at that wieght are eihter 4A or 5A.

Heincker won 18-3 tech fall last year at the rosehill tournament right before regionals.

What weight is Andrew Milsap going? I figured I would see his name on there. Is Jonathon Peterson not wrestling or something? Does anyone know what weight Taylor Watkins is going? He should be a good freshman. Do you think Fiscus is going to be 32!? I saw him wrestle his freshman year at 12 and then jump to 30. Tough kid. Broc Bennnett only 8th at 285? I figured he would be atleast top 5. Jeremiah Jones? I think he should be atleast 10 at 113. State placer in 2010. Didn't qualify last year, which I think is because he just came off a broken arm. No excuses though because Charbonneau and Koehn were both hurt and still placed. Thank you for the rankings. This is what makes things interesting. I like seeing where the kids start off and end by the season. Thanks for the effort and time.

I expected to see Mark Smith on the list, probably will be sooner or later.

I love preseason rankings it gives you something to do when you get bored but I am curious about 120 I know Reed beat Vieyra last year and what about Olsen haven't heard much about him

At 170: Tyler Henness and Tanner Gardner faced each other only 1 time last year. The match was at state and Tanner won by fall.

Michael Olsen wrested at Park Hill, Missouri last season. He took second at 4a state. I am not saying he should be ranked ahead of Dustin.

That was one crazy bracket. Delancey beats Bradley, Gardner beats Henness, Bradley beats Gardner, Henness majors Delancey 20-8. Then Baird steamrolls the entire bracket. Next Friday I will be changing 171. Henness is reported to be going 182. Thanks for the post!

In my opinion, Olsen is the real deal. That weight is up for grabs in 5A.
