By state rules that is not allowed.
Weigh in has to be withing 24 hours or the tournament, make no sense for novice tournament, which we should have adressed during the state meeting or at least put someone on point to do so.
If clubs are going to cheat weight on a novice tournament they need their charter pulled.
It also adds to club officials that have been wrestling all day to hustle back and weigh kids in again for the next day.
so by rules, no, by all common sense yes.
What club officials have been wrestling all day??
A sanctioned novice tournament held on a different day than the open tournament is a separate tournament, hence the need for a weigh-in.
Sadly, I have witnessed many unfortunate events at Kids Wrestling Tournaments, to include Novice Tournaments, and there was a need for a weigh-in procedure.
What novice parents are club officials?
Don't we say a club oficer to be present?
Head coach or assistant coaches, president or VP?
I am betting 95% of them were wrestling on Saturday. Then they hustle back home for novice weigh ins.
That is the way our club has been and I am sure we are not alone. I could have a novice parent weigh them in, but I was always assuming that it had to be a club representative.
Novice parent usually don't fill that role.
