Looking forward to this tournament next weekend and I have put together a list of wrestlers to keep an eye on. I really think 120 will be loaded given the guys in that weight class. I forsee Hensley coming up to have the chance to wrestle Dulgarian.
You could be looking at some exciting championship matches at 106, 120, 138 and heavyweight. Especially given that Mason-Callahan along with Williams-Humphrey squared off last week at Eudora in great matches. Henes and Cokeley should be an interesting match if it happens.
However, I am curious thoughts from other folks on guys to keep an eye on and also any additional insight on the tournament.
106 – Luke Henes, Reese Cokeley 120 – Isaac Dulgarian, Zak Hensley, Gavin Jorns, Chandler Gordon, Corey Spader 126 – Jacob Parise, Tyler Dickman, Grant Hollingsworth 132 – Ben Randolph 138 – Reis Humphrey, Tommy Williams (they had a great semi-finals match at Eudora) 145 – Dustin Williams 160 - Connor Middleton 285 – Eric Mason, Zach Callahan

Reese Cokeley is going to be at 113. Rory Haug I heard will be dropping to 152. A match up between him and Middleton would be nice.

Should be a good one, im excited and looking forward to the Johnson county classic, it's a great tournament. All the college kids are back to root on the there old High School teammates.
Kainisable is right, there will be some good revenge rematches from this past weekend in Eudora, which was a fun tournement to watch. Very well ran I thought, besides the seeding criteria. Their should be several good matches this weekend at the JCC.

At this date it has not been determined if Reese will be at 106 or 113 and Zak could be at 113 or 120. Coach Medina will determine this before the deadline. GO THUNDER!

To answer your question I have to think from what I have heard that it is highly likely Hensley will make the move up to 120. So if that is where he ends up I wouldn't be surprised. He has wrestled many matches against Isaac Dulgarian with several being close (most recent being kids' state finals this year where he lost 3-0) and I have a feeling he would like to face off against him since he would only have one other chance at the Bobcat in January due to being in different classifications. It is just my 2 cents for what its worth.

Hopefully the spirit of the seeding meeting will be to seperate the two best kids in each weight. For that, you can throw all of the BS critieria out the window. Your wins are only as valuable as who they were obtained against.

If you're referring to freshmen getting hosed at seeding meetings, I've seen it before many times. Another good one at seeding meetings is when the criteria is what place you took at that particular tourney the year before, and a new team shows up(or of course a freshman would be treated poorly here also), and they could have 22 state champions in their lineup, and none of them would get seeded.........

That is ridiculous. I was glad to take the 2 seed at Gardner, even though my wrestler was a state runner-up and placed at Gardner last year, vs. an Iowa kid who "only" took third at state but was a Fargo National Champion! A coach that would take that 1 seed just doesn't get it.
He took 2nd and got majored by the way, to an Iowa signee!

Typically, it is an AD that "runs" the tourney, that doesn't understand how it should work, and sets his rules, and doesn't budge from them.
Last year at Pratt, the first match at 145 was between the eventual 4a state finalists at 145. It was Andale's first year at the tourney, so no placing at their tourney meant no seeds........
Guess you have to beat them all, but if we are going to bring fans to this sport, we want the finals matches that everyone comes to, to be between the two best kids. We have to make that happen. Begging for a seed for your kid that doesn't deseerve one is horse crap. Oh well, some folks just don't get it.

that is the long and short of if. One one side there is an AD that won't budge for some kind of rule, and the other a coach that says "Well my kid had a great week of practice and should have a better seed" or my favorite, "he had _____on his back last year!"

The first question to every seeding meeting should be "Do we know who the best two wrestlers in this group are? Throw out the state placings, last year's tournament, all of that garbage except a head-to-head match up this year. Quit punishing the outstanding freshmen. Any HS coach who doesn't understand what a Fargo AA is or how tough winning a Roller event is, shouldn't be coaching. The CK kickoff is as tough as any HS tournament and if you don't believe that you have NO business attending a seeding meeting. If you want to use the hair splitting criteria beyond the top two, knock yourself out. We make a huge deal out of the finals so everyone should focus on trying to make sure the BEST match up is made possible through the seeding. After four years of listening to the CRAP that goes on in these seeding meetings, I think it is time for some folks to step up and get it right. SEEDING IS ABOUT SEPERATING THE BEST WRESTLERS!

I agree - For too many the seeding fight is to keep your kid on the opposite side of the bracket of the best kid.

Let's be honest here guys. The only contentious weight to seed will be 120. The rest are fairly easy.
IT SHOULD BE:
1. Dulgarian 2. Hensley 3. Parise - State runner-up - 4th at JOCO last year. 4. Spader - State runner-up - Did not wrestle at JOCO last year. 5. Jorns - State placer
