My son placed at last year's Middle School State and going to Iowa with Team Kansas was the best wrestling experience he had ever had!

The success he had on the mats in Iowa, being exposed to the leadership of different coaches, and the whole team experience really made a positive impact on his performance as a freshman this year.

I strongly encourage jr. high wrestlers to do this!

Was a blast!!!!
Ooooowwwwwwooooooo....Kansas!!!!!

So I felt pretty connected to a lot of these kids from Team 2 and tried to follow as many as possible. I followed a lot from the other 3 middle school teams, and kept in contact with other's dads throughout our first high school season. After watching a few of them at the state tourney I looked up results from Team 2's results from their first high school season. Some of the wrestlers are still in middle school and will be impact wrestlers next year and I'll be following them too, and some are still in the fight in HS but had some ups and downs. Once again this is only the Team 2 guys I was involed with, if I got something wrong let me know and I'll try to fix it. Hopefully someone else will look up some of the other teams results.

Team 2 Kansas Coyotes (HS state results):

75 Case Pemberton 6-2
80 Gary Joint 5-3
85 Curtis Burnett 3-5
90 Ryan Delforge 4-4
95 Khamin Crow 4-4---2012 state HS placer
100 Tristan Star 5-3----2012 state HS placer
105 Nick Haug 3-1 (inj)---2012 state HS placer
110 Armond McCray 4-4---2012 state HS placer
115 Issac Russell 5-3---2012 state HS qualifer
120 Bryan Burnett 6-2---2012 state qualifer
125 Shane Brock 5-3
130 Genesis Martinez 5-3
135 Alan Clothier 5-3
140 Asher Huseman 5-3—2012 state HS placer
145 Ethan Deterding 6-2—2012 state HS placer
152 Josh Miller 4-4—--2012 state HS qualifier (1 win from placing!)
160 Noah Ornelas 4-4
171 Rex Diederich 5-3
189 Emilo Fowler 6-2—2012 state HS qualifer
HWT Jason Zook 2-6
100 Haegan Schaefer 6-1 (alt)---2012 state HS qualifer
105 DJ Cook 3-3 (alt)---2012 state HS qualifer
125 Dalton Peters 3-0 (alt)

There are some kids not on here that never wrestled the MS state tourney and didn't go to Iowa yet still had great HS seasons, but I can honestly say that the experience was invauluable to my son in his first HS season. Plus he made some great friends, as I did!

Bronson,

You had to mention these guys?

105 Nick Haug 3-1 (inj)---2012 state HS placer
110 Armond McCray 4-4---2012 state HS placer

Just kidding. Garrett wrestled them both tough on his way to being a state HS placer this year. Two years ago, he also wrestled MS State and Nationals and had a great time and gained some invaluable experience. This is an awesome opportunity for wrestlers that are on the verge of beginning their high school careers.

Jonnys still in 6th grade so doing elementary duals but if in need of wrestlers for the tournament we'd come. Would that be crappy to come and wrestle with no intention of doing ms duals?

i have read the forums ever since my son started wrestling in first grade - but have never felt the need to post. However, the middle school duals are something that I feel I need to put my two cents in as I think it is probably one of the best experiences my son Alan has ever had. He went to the tournament his 6th grade with three of his 7th and 8th grade buddies as a lark and never thought he would make the team - but he did. He was suppose to go to Elementary school duals, but since he had won the spot - middle school was where he was going. A 6th grade wrestling 110 in middle school duals is not a pretty sight - he went 1-7. But boy did he learn alot, he saw wrestling at a whole different level and learned what the team dual concept was all about which really gets them ready for high school. Plus the next year one of his main focuses was to make the team again and do better - which he did. He went 5-3 with one bad beating, a one point loss, and one he lost himself. But it also motivated him to do Schoolboy duals in the summer which has only added to his improvement. Eighth grade wrestling is tough as everything is the last this or that and all they want to do is be in high school wrestling, yet again all year he has been focued on the middle school championships and wants to make team one, get the cool swag, and go out and compete with the best. Becuase these AAU teams that come in are tough and they are there to represent their states - it is a privilege and they compete. I would highly recommend that you send your 6th, 7th, or 8th grade to go compete for a spot - if they win one, it is a source of pride and they will learn alot out there and make great friendships that will last. I know that this has made Alan a better wrestler, but more important - a better person by being a part of this. I would say it is probably one the of the best experiences your wrestler can be a part of.

At some point are you going to start listing the kids that have signed up to make sure they are all on there? I know last year, I had signed my kid up but he wasn't on the weigh in list. Good thing I sent the receipt with his coach.

I would like to see an "official" time that the weigh in for Middle School State will be conducted. It was discussed yesterday at Dist 1: Friday night weigh in will NOT work; will it be from 6-7am Saturday along with the sub district weigh in, or at 8:30am Saturday like the flyer states? Anytime Saturday should work, basically just wondering if we can chow after the 6-7am weigh in, or have to wait... Thanks!

No Friday night weigh in will count!!!! If they weigh in Saturday morning at sub it will count!! Each sub will have a weigh in. Some subs are doing split tourney, so they will be weigh in 11:30 of so for the afternoon session, this will count for that weigh in for Middle School State. This will work great for Middle School State.

District 2 South @ Garden Plain will be holding a weigh in for the middle school championship from 11:30-12:00 on Saturday. This weigh in is only for those wrestling on Sunday, this is not a weigh in for the afternoon session on Saturday.

Thanks

There is no morning weigh in for middle school state in the morning at Garden Plain? So the kids will have to hold their weight even if they are wrestling in the morning? Is there anyway we can have a morning weigh in at Garden Plain? What time is the Middle School weigh in at Maize South?

It is my understanding that there will also be a morning weigh in from 6-6:30 at Garden Plain for both: subs & middle school championship. The 11:30 weigh in is provided to accomodate those wrestling in the afternoon on Saturday and again is only for those planning on wrestling on Sunday - it is not a weigh in for subs!!!

Okay so I am confused?? You can use Weigh ins from Friday night weigh ins at subs.. or we have to weigh in a different time for this tournament.. cause I was under impression that it was a different weigh in and it was on Saturday morning at subs.

Flyer says that Middle School Weigh Ins will be at Subs at 8:30. So what is the real deal?
